1911's suck, Glocks rule. Glock's suck, 1911's rule. Doesn't this ***** get old after awhile? Personally, both have their place.

I do plan on maybe buying a glock one day.. but there are so many 1911's that i'd rather have.

next one on the list is a para warthog. so that if i ever do get my CCW, i will carry in style.
meh, I already have a few cheep guns, which I never shoot, no need to add a glock, mostly I shoot these

OT but I got to speak up.

JaMail, you are getting a Warthog? Do a search on this before plunking down your hard earned money. Every one I have ever seen (5 or 6) were single shot pistols. Rarely do they make it through a full magazine.

one way to avoid being hurt by a squib is to forgo buying a glock in favor of a high quality gun like a Hi-Point, which seem to be able to handle very solid barrel obstructions with a +++++P round safely

I've shot many tula ammo thru my glock 21sf with no problems what so ever! I've shot expensive stuff and cheap reloads and never had that happened to me ever. I've heard rumors about glocks exploding but I hope this never happens to any of my glocks!

Wow! A lot of modern guns can't handle black powder. Getting a 9mm to work with it is really kind of cool.

Over the years, I've witnessed a few ka-booms and have seen the results of a few ka-booms. The most devastating ka-booms I've seen were the result of an overcharged reload or someone trying to squeeze too much out of a load. Used to see "super-face" all the time in the 80's IPSC game. Watched one of my friends blow up his Glock 17 trying to make 9mm Major.

The other ka-booms were the result of firing a round after a squib.

I've never seen a factory round cause a ka-boom except for one. It was a very hot PMC 240 grain .44 magnum round fired in a Bangor Punta era Smith and Wesson Model 29. The gun didn't blow up, but it made a nice crack in the cylinder. PMC doesn't load their stuff that hot any more.

I'm not sure how bad steel cased ammo is for guns, but I only shoot it in my $100 Yugo SKS.

I think the OP's ka-boom was a squib rather than an overcharged load, but who knows.

The worst ka-boom I've witnessed as an over-under shotgun disintegrating on the trap line. I think he was shooting a Browning Superposed. He was very lucky he didn't lose an eye and we were lucky nobody got hit by flying pieces of shotgun. He was at station 2 and I was at 5 so I got a pretty good look.

This isn't only a Glock or a Tula problem. This can happen with ANY ammo or weapon. Reloaded or not. People just need to be aware of what is happening with their weapon and/or ammo.

Here is a picture from a recent LEO training. I took this picture.

This was factory loaded .45 ACP Federal 230gr HydraShok JHP
in a Sig. This ammo is issued by the department.

Luckily the officer shooting the weapon was smart enough to know that something was wrong and didn't try to fire another round.

Hah! Not it's loads the pic just fine. I guess my phone didn't feel in the mood to load it 10 min ago....

Man that's close... Did he actually fire the second round or was that just a squib?

Not to be a safety Nazi but tell your man at the top of the pic if not ready to fire...DONT HANDLE THE TRIGGER!!! hahaha sorry that was bothering me.

The only glock kabooms I have read about were using reloaded ammo. In the glock manual it says not to use reloads. Tula is super cheap ammo, and a glock is not going to just explode unless the round was seriously defective.

Ya speaking of quality american ammo yep speaking of the squib I was talking about thought id share. It was a box of remington umc 115gr9mm jhp that forever put a sour taste in my mouth for rem ammo. Crap happens with all ammo, just gotta pay attention.
