I'd go with there being a double charge over a squib. From what I've seen and heard the Glock barrel and gun can take a squib fairly well, but you'll bulge the barrel and that's your last shot. A double charge however would really do damage, and is likely what we're seeing with that KB.

my buddy is sending the gun to glock. they will diagnose the problem and i will report back so there is no speculation on squibs or double charges.

Every once in a while you run into a stress fracture, but is it extremely rare and not brand specific.

As for the "unscientific results", I wouldn't rely on YouTube for anything other than entertainment. Just one example, but most 1911 owners don't own a video camera or know how to find YouTube. It is a gun that appeals to a lot of the old timers. Not to mention marketshare plays a big role as well. If you have a billion of one brand in the market and only a thousand of the other, obviously you are going to see more kabooms with the brand that has a massively larger market share.
You're a good reason why commercial members should post stuff not related to tier business. If you really want to make claims like "most 1911 owners don't own a camera" then maybe you should do it from a personal account. Come on... That's just ignorant. Especially considering that the cheapest 1911 costs as much as a normal Glock. I won't even compare the 2 guns but some of your posts make it seem like all 1911 owners are "dumb old timers." I definety ain't old. I'm actually quite young. I've shot glocks and 1911s and 1911s work better for me out of the 2. The 1911 has a HUGE market share. If a kaboom was more common in 1911s then we would probably hear about it because there are just as many people that enjoy bashing the 1911 as there are the Glock.

OP, it sucks about your friend but he should consider himself lucky he only walked away with a scratch.
And five.five-six- your posts always brighten up the Glock threads lol.

That happened with my P7M8. I believe it was Remington ammo but there's a small chance it was WWB. The bullet got lodged about 1/4 of the way into the barrel. First squib I ever had. Something told me to check the chamber after I heard a poof instead of a bang. When I saw the bullet, my heart sank. I packed my gear up and left very quickly. It really terrifies me when I think about it. I came very close to losing my precious HK. Skin is free lol. Kidding, kidding

O ya after that pucker factor it definately makes you pay even further attention! I remembered hearing a way different sound and feeling only slight pop before I checked the gun out. I will say for those that don't know make sure you stop firing if you do notice a change! Btw great to hear that Tula stepped up.

I don't know why we all can't get along though (reffering to the glock vs 1911 vs sig vs can opener comments) think positive people . Now about those horrible kel tec's .

My question was more of a rethorical question than one looking for a scientific conclusion.

All I own are Glocks. I could care less if people talk bad about them or if they occasionally blow up, although there are usually contributing factors leading to the cause.

What I was saying was that I personally would rather have plastic flying around than metal for my own sake and for people around me.

No need to prove your point when you cant comprehend something. I know I won't.
My point was that if it were made of steel or aluminum you made not have piece flying around at all.

You scratched the surface with your physics knowledge. My physics and engineering knowledge is also limited therefore I won't make statements like the one you made.

You say you won't but you already did.

                  Again, you're over thinking.

Once again, my "statement" was a rethorical and generalized. No where did I imply anything.

Unsubstantiated claims anecdotes and hyperbole about Glocks or 1911s and their owners are the sole opinions of individuals. They should in no way reflect the opinions of all or most Glock and 1911 owners. Many of whom own and appreciate both.

In other words don't bring the rest of us down to that level.

This is nothing new... It just happens... While It does seem to happen a lot with glocks... I suspect that you hear about it more because there are so many of them out there...In any case, It happens with all guns and I dont see that as a reason not to own them. ---BTW It can happen with brass cased ammo too... So dont think using brass will save your *****.

Anyway, I've actually seen this happen with a Glock 22 using some factory Winchester.. I actually almost pooped myself. Winchester paid replace all of the remaining ammo my buddy had from the batch (so they could test it) and they also paid to replace his Glock.

Ultimately, the cause was 'undetermined' and my buddy got away with some very minor cuts.

Just to put everyone with Glocks at ease, this can happen to any firearm at any time (during firing, of course).

                          Did that help?

                            Glock Exploded!!

I seriously doubt it is the Glock. Sound like a double charge. I had a Smith and Wesson M&P 45c do the same thing. Blew the magazine and trigger out. Had the same hand injury and schrapnel to my forehead.

I've seen a Glock blow up and puke all its internals along with all the rounds in the magazine and tore apart the mag and base pad ... But that wasnt the Glocks fault, it was the user using high pressure rounds; meant for an open pistol with a big comp in front of it... That cause the over pressure
