Is this a poll? Or do you have a specific question you need help with?

If your looking to buy a Glock 19 to shoot and not a safe queen buy the Gen 3 and save yourself the money and buy ammo!
Most people at GT live in free states and all Glocks are priced about the same. Here in Kalifornia is the only place that the price gets jacked up due to the CA approved roster.

This is going to be a HD and range gun. So the gen3 is worth it even tho its only $40 cheaper?

I know which one you are talking about for $500 and it has night sights IIRC. I would go used since the used gun will outlast you. From what I understand, Glock will completely rebuild the gun for you free of charge if anything happens so I wouldn't worried about a used glock. Someone feel free to chime in if I am spreading FUD since I don't have any first hand knowledge with glock, just going by what I have heard from folks here.

Its a standard 19 with normal sights LISTED at $500.. So before fee's.. Im guessing about $600 OTD give or take..

And I would but I never find the deals. In the classifieds they are way over priced or sold.. I looked for 3 months and gave up.

It is not only 40 bucks cheaper. One with night sights and the other is without. You can't buy Glock with factory night sights on GEN 4 unless you are a LEO. You can buy a Glock Gen3 without night sights about $550 out of the door.

Yes, I think you can buy the Gen 4 with night sights, even if your not LEO with the single shot option but, not at that price. But couldn,t you just install after the fact?

Where did you get the $550 OTD?

So I cant buy night sites and put them on a Gen4? How is that?

and that is true I forgot the gen4 doesnt have night sites

                      another option......

Gen 3 G19 at GSSF price for $462 OTD from ProForce

I just picked up my Gen 3 G26 from them at the same price with my GSSF membership ($398.20 before taxes & DROS), and they had the Gen 3 G17 and G19 also available at that same price.

They'll only sell the fixed sight Glocks to GSSF members, and not any with night sights.

Simple. Take $500 and add $35 for DROS fees and shop fee. Then take that amount and add approx 9.75% sales tax to it if you're in LA County (if you're in OC, then 8.75%).

OTD price should then be around $581 ~ $587

My answer is both, which is what I have. A Gen 3 G19 and a Gen 4 G19. My Gen 4 will have Trijicon night sights on it (moving them over from my Gen 3 slide), but then my Gen 3 has a Trijicon RMA-A on it.

But for me, the Gen 3 is my primary gun for range, HD, and pistol courses/competitions. The Gen 4 is just the 'backup' gun when I need another one if the Gen 3 fails.... which it hasn't yet, even through some tough classes.

To me, both shoot equally well. It's not like one stands out over the other.... well the Gen 3 with the RMR-A red dot does, but you can put that on any gun. The Gen 4 grip feels ok for me, but I prefer the Gen 3 grip with rubber DecalGrip tape on it.

For your purpose of range use and HD, either one will suffice. If money is the deciding factor, then get the cheaper Gen 3 (looked at slightly used ones) and go with that.

My vote would be to stick with the tried and true Gen 3. The Gen 4 G19 does't offer enough "upgrade" in my book, that is unless you need the smaller backstrap.

I also was intersted in the G19. But I fell in love with the G23. I also ordered the KKM 40-9 conversion barrel so I have the 9mm option as well. I highly recommend it. G19 can't convert to .40 or 357 but, the G23 can convert to 9mm or the 357.
