Gun shows in California are mainly to window shop, meet people interested in the same sport/hobby, bring your family along for a cool day trip, or find obscure hard to find items.

Otherwise it's pretty much over priced for general items you can find in local shops, or online.

Access to google is your best friend at a gun show.

Gun shows in CA are generally good for ammo, or fondle something you want to buy later at a good price.

I'm going to my first show in NC this weekend. It'll be nice to contrast a CA gun show with one in America. I'll let you know what it's like.

Follow up Show Report: Concord, NC Sun July 17

Went to check out my first show in NC. Pretty small, about the size of the Vallejo shows.

First impression, guys making deals right outside the show. Nice to see. Handguns and modern handguns changing hands, no fees, no registration, all under the casually (lazily?) watchful eye of a deputy sheriff.

Ammo prices were comparable to CA show prices, a little lower.

Lots of Browning 1919 MG parts (tripods, etc).

Saw one P-38, nice looking for $425. A P-1 for $350, also pretty nice looking.

I was perusing wheelguns, many S&W Model 10's for low $300's. A nice looking 22 cal. combat masterpiece (4" bbl) but price tag was facing down .

AR 30 round mags used, $4/each, 3 for $10.

A few AR's (forget the model) $500 range, these were carbine config with collapsible stock, 16" bbl, detachable carry handle. Of course many more in the upper reaches.

Lowers $60-70.

Chiappa 22 upper, $250.

Lots of AK's and variants in the 450 range.

Lots of SKS's in the 300-400 range. Some looked very nice.

M1 Carbine prices were steep. Many over $1k. The M1A1 (I think that's the config ID for the para folder) $900. Looked like WWII hardware.

Plenty of mags for M3 grease gun, MP5, Thompson SMG,

A couple of the 50 BMG rifles (forget if it's Barrett?). Lots of 50 Cal ammo.

Various tracers, belted ammo, belted blanks, etc.

One guy had Nazi Militaria out the wazoo. Tunics, stalhelms, etc. Always interesting and creepy to see the Nazi stuff.

Sorry no pix. My crapola phone died and it took some work at home to resuscitate it just to work as a phone again.

Interesting to see some stuff that you can't find in the land of the bedwetter-lawmakers.

There's a Vallejo show next Saturday - 23 July. I think parking is $5.00. I've stopped going to the CP show, Vallejo is small but OK. Tends to have a higher percentage of gun stuff overall.

The parking cost has gone up a bit, but yes a very good percentage of actual firearms and firearms related stuff with far less ancillary crap at the Vallejo shows over the past several.

And there will be a CGN booth present with toys, literature and friendly faces you can put names to... including mine on Sunday.

I am going. Not expecting to find a deal, nor with any specific intention of buying, but the right piece may jump out.

Last one I went to in SJ was January? I did the 4 rows in less than an hour.
I have Saturday off, what else am I going to do

I've been debating if I should buy a Scar 17s. I wonder if I'll see one there. If the magazines were more plentiful and cheaper I would of got one already.....

In general, gun shows offer higher prices and more attitude than found elsewhere. I go to window shop only, though it won't shock me if I find a good deal.

When you pay $12 to park and $15 to get in you might not save any money. The food is horrific and expensive as well.

But I do go with my kids for the fun factor.
