When you pay $12 to park and $15 to get in you might not save any money. The food is horrific and expensive as well.
But I do go with my kids for the fun factor.May the Bridges I burn light the way.

I usually go to gun shows on a Sunday's so I can haggle to a lower the price.Comment

i usually go to vallejo or stockton shows, not as big, but no parking fees either. i don't go to buy something specifically, just look around and spend the day with the kids.(\__/)

I went to the SF gun show earlier this year (my first ever) and found it entertaining. You can save money if you know what you want, and buy enough of it to offset the entry and parking. I think they had pretty good prices on reloading components (bullets,primers,powder...at least from Miwall) and on reloaded rounds. Paper targets were also inexpensive as well as shotgun slugs.
Since it was my first time, I'll bring my own dolly to transport around the show. Dealers will hold for you and some will let you borrow their dollys to take to your car.
Definitely a fun experience and I'd go again to stock up.
A little OT, but what has anyone heard about the Reno shows? I'm thinking more crazy stuff because it is a "freer" state...

Reno has great gun shows. GO! I haven't been to a California gun show since clinton was president. lol. I am thinking about going to a CA gun show soon but they will never beat the Reno shows. So, it is kind of a waste IMO. But nothing beats a good OK gun show. UGH! what it would be to just show an ID and walk away with a pistola.Comment

When are the Reno gun shows held? Is there a website for them?

If you've never been it's quite the show - it's at the Reno Hilton (now called the Grand Sierra Resort) and it is wall to wall guns. First hint it's not like CA - folks walking through the casino carrying ARs, AKs, FALs and all manner of guns. My first time took me a day & a half to see everything and I know I missed much. Next show is in about 3 weeks.GOA Member & SAF Life MemberComment

There's a Vallejo show next Saturday - 23 July. I think parking is $5.00. I've stopped going to the CP show, Vallejo is small but OK. Tends to have a higher percentage of gun stuff overall.GOA Member & SAF Life MemberComment

Gun shows in CA are generally good for ammo, or fondle something you want to buy later at a good price.
I'm going to my first show in NC this weekend. It'll be nice to contrast a CA gun show with one in America. I'll let you know what it's like.NRA Certified Rifle Instructor

I didn't know about this one. it's the TS gun show at the fairgrounds down the road from Spartan Stadium right?
I'm going the LMS defensive handgun course that weekend at SJRG, but if it lets out early i might go check it out. either that or go on friday and see if i can pick up cheap ammo."When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle." -Edmund BurkeComment
