Beretta and a Shotgun is the winner. My friend has both an M9 and a Remy 870...Cannot go wrong with that combo.

      I was gonna say that.
      Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

i wouldnt say that much more expensive. About 40-50$ per 1000 to reload more then 9mm.

If you have a 1911 already get the Beretta. The 92 series is one of my top three favorites. If you don't have a 1911 yet I would look into the mid-high range Springfield's instead. -Ben

              - Nice Kimber (desert warrior if i can find one)
              - S&W 454 / S&W 500
              - Ruger alaskan 454
              -Beretta 92f plus a shotgun

What do you guys think? I reload so im not really worried about ammo prices.
I'd reconsider your options. And research Kimber quality/reliability issues...

I'd second the MC Operator, a tad above your price point though. But money well spent, IMHO...

I have a S&W 460, a Kimber TEII, and Ruger Alaskan 454. All are great guns and each serves a very different purpose. As an all-around gun the Kimber would be my choice.

S&W 460... it's not only versatile, but its native round has remarkable balistics.

Failing that: go for the Beretta and a Shotgun. If you lowball the beretta you can get it for around 450 (less if you go with a police trade-in). If you get a nice model (Elite or similar) expect 600-900. The market is variable and not every variant is rostered, so there's the premium for that. as far as the shotgun goes, there's an insane amount of variance, and if it's for HD purposes get yourself a Remy 870 or a mossy 500. Both will chew up even the crummiest of ammo. If it's for trap, look for a nice O/U or a Semi (there's some killer beretta options available here as well, though probably out of your price point). If it's for hunting, make sure it has removable chokes and can handle 3" mags, steel, and slugs for the sake of versatility (action becomes preference at that point, but i'd go with a pump for a starter... maybe a benelli supernova).

1st - A nice shotgun if you don't already have one (skip the 92f).
                      2nd - S&W 500

OP, you ever shoot a SW500? It's not fun past pulling the trigger the first time.

My 1911 is a Smith, my model 29 is a Smith. People shy away from the external extractor of the 1911. Its a good gun. If your'e going for large caliber, I'd say Smith even though 460 almost feels too big in my hands. (stubby fingers) Have you ever looked at Magnum Research for the BIG GUNS? They make the BFR. Cylinder size of a campbells soup can , holds 5. And you can get it all the way up to .450 Marlin in your budget. Just a thought

My father has one and ive fired it a few times, i think its the coolest thing ever, but i can see how the feeling would fade fairly quick. I think ive narrowed it down to the smith 460 or a nice 1911. The ballistics of the .460 are pretty epic (200 yards!!!!) but i have a revolver already and have always wanted a 1911. Maybe ill spring for an operator, or maybe ill find a used one on the marketplace here.

whichever your going to shoot more, i was going to buy a S&W 500, but i think its more of a "see what i have" gun.

I love the kimber raptors. fit and finish looks great. their 10mm is really nice looking also.
