S&W or Ruger I think is the most reliable and well made US firearms.As to auto's the big 3 had jap cars in there line up for the last 20 to 25 years.GM had Toyota's,Ford used Mazda and Chyl used Miti. so how about that for USA made.

I am not limiting myself. I am just curious... that's all. I have Beretta and Sig others from other countries. I will be the first to admit I don't know every gun or gun brands. I just wanted to open my eyes to some home grown brands.

One frustrating trend I see is how easily people are putting down American brands and are willing to send their hard earned money overseas. (Yes I get the whole my Mexican Chevy or Ohio Toyota... thing).

What happened to American Pride and craftsmanship? The US used to be the best at everything.

I would like for the consumers to challenge American companies to make the best of the best again. High quality, sleek, durable, affordable, made 100% in the USA.

Anyways... back on topic. Perhaps a Ruger in a .40 cal might be in the works for me. Most people that buy them (Ruger) are very pleased. They say they are tanks. I have a hard time getting past the rattle when you pick up a bran new one.

To reiterate, the focus of this thread is to learn about all the American gun manufacturers that are available. And in your opinion, the best brand and model that is on the roster for the average Californian to purchase.

good luck, the way the unions have it here it would cost $1500 in labor to produce a gun that should only cost $900 if the entire thing were made in america. If you want an affordable US made gun, go Hi-point. Otherwise it just doesnt make sense to manufacture ANYTHING in america

Not getting too deep into semantics on individual parts/labor/process, etc...

S&W and Ruger. Both have quality semis and revolvers.

I guess it comes down to how literally "made in America" you want it.

Pretty much. Unions are the downfall of America. When I have to wait 3 HOURS for a union plumber and his supervisor to shut off a main thats been spewing thousands of gallons of water a minute wtf? Of course when the worker got there we had to wait ANOTHER hour for his supervisor because he can't work without one....

It's just something my dad " infected" me with, if two products are of the same quality always buy American, and yes my last car was a GM (bought a Toyota for the wife cause thats what she wanted).

Ummm...you do realize that there's a good chance that GM was made in Mexico? and that Toyota you didn't buy was probably made here in the US?
