It's just something my dad " infected" me with, if two products are of the same quality always buy American, and yes my last car was a GM (bought a Toyota for the wife cause thats what she wanted).
Call me a sucker but i would rather support something made in my own country then someones country who could care less about mine.

"Best" is an interesting word, because it doesn't really define much of anything beyond a general like/dislike.
In terms of basic reliability, it's hard to beat Ruger or S&W semi-autos and revolvers.
Any number of American-made 1911 pattern pistols could be said to have the "best" factory trigger.
The real answer depends upon what YOU consider important in narrowing down the elusive quality known as "best".|

I buy guns based on quality, not where it's made. I always get a chuckle when I hear people say they're supporting American products by buying a Ford, as oppose to Toyota or Honda. Yeah sure, if Mexico is part of America.Last edited by darkest2000; 05-31-2011, 4:35 PM.Comment

I almost shart myself when I went to check out the then new Dodge Challenger. On the way there I was thinking about the muscle heritage and the classic Challengers that were the epitome of badass American horsepower. I read the label on the window "Engine and transmission made in Mexico, vehicle assembled in Canada." Ugh.
To answer the OP, this is a very subjective question. I am partial to early Colt 1911s and S&W revolvers (especially N frame) or the Colt Python. There are many others that are great but personal preference is a big factor as to what is "best".Comment
