With the new M2 model that has the button mag release also came new magazines. The mags designed to fit in the P99 and the paddle release PPQ will not work in the new model. Good luck finding CA legal 10 rounders for that right now even if you can get the gun.

I've handled the new traditional mag release PPQ. Have not handled the paddled release so I can't give you a comparison. The new PPQ (m2?) feels nice, but seems like it has a very high bore axis, similar to an XD.

The pushbutton's a better idea for this market, and I daresay for most US shooters. Its a better commonality of arms compared to other guns.

If you shoot a paddle release type gun , you'd best not switch back to a button style pistol right away. I shot a friends HK USP once at a range session, and when I went back to my Beretta my index finger reached for a non-existent paddle release.

I own the PPQ with the paddle release and handled the PPQ with the push button at SHOT. Honestly I could go with either. I like how I could release the mag without changing my grip (I usually hit the paddle with my middle finger). However when I first got the gun I was a bit hesitant with reloading with a round in the chamber because it involved putting my finger on the trigger guard.

You got that right about switching between guns. I usually have my S&W M&P pistol on the table when shooting handguns at the range. It does screw with your manual of arms if you're not thinking. I also love watching guys have a WTF moment when figuring out how to release the mag when I let them shoot my PPQ.

It is my first walther pistol. But I am impressed. what else ? PPQ was cheaper than XDM 3.8 the PPQ was$ 508 and XDM 3.8 bi tone with night sight was $630
