Raven .25?

A guy downrange had one last time I was there. I traded him a round of 460 for a mag of .25.
It FTE'd once, but probably my fault. They're like $90. I think it would be fun to have one in the safe for exactly the opposite reason I have the 460.
Not in a million years would I want to carry that alone.

Raven= bang-jam-throw. Pretty much all you need to know.Comment

It seems like the nickle plated pimp guns work better for some reason.
A budy of mine has one, its never jammed on him. The trick is to get lucky on the gun you get, then keep it clean.Comment

It serves its purpose as a concealable gun 98% of the time. That is the time when just showing that you are armed is enough to deter someone from picking you as a victim.
The trouble is the other 2% of the time when a crazed man charges you with a machete. Do you wish
1. you are Steven Seagal
2. you can put all 5/6 rounds on him & end it right there
3. you can run faster than him
4. you have a bigger gun

As a conversation piece, I'd get a Raven in a heartbeat. It's been so vilified by the Brady campaign, etc., that I'd have to have one just for kicks. They don't cost much, and they don't take up much room in the safe.
As a self-defense pistol, no way! If you need a gun to defend yourself, get a glock and learn to dress around it.Comment

Don't listen to these guys on here with bad things to say.
The Raven and Sundance .25 are decent guns. Now, they are made from lower quality metals but hence the price. Both are safe and decent for the price. They got a bad rap mainly because they are more prone to problem and used by criminals b/c of price. If you find a nice used one for 50,75 bucks go for it.Comment

i got to shoot a raven 25acp along side a fie titan 25acp. the raven was awkward and hurt to shoot, its a stupid shape and doesnt fit the hand for poop. the fie titan was at least comfortable. it was slimmer and unless my memory is failing it was easier to hit things with. that might have been the trigger pull tho. i seem to remember the trigger pull was better on the fie titan.
anyway, my point is that both guns are cheap but the fie titan is better. if possible, id recomend getting that.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I recently read a reply to a fellow asking about carrying a .22 for defense. I don't remember who wrote it, I wish I did. This is it, or reasonably close to it.
"If you decide to get one, fine. But, for God's sake, don't load it. If you load it, you might be inclined to shoot someone with it. If you did, and they noticed, they could get really pissed."
I was given a nickel plated Raven .25 a number of years ago and was kind of stunned as to how well I could shoot the goofy thing. I ended up giving it to my sister who, in turn, gave it to someone else. I don't think much of a .25 as a defensive round. But, I don't have anything bad to say about the Raven.
The whole idea of naming a group of affordable (read that as cheap, if it pleases you) guns "Saturday Night Specials" is offensive to me. I take it to mean that only those with the cash to buy expensive guns have lives worth defending. If my only choice was to either carry the Raven .25 or depend on my ability to grovel and beg to get out of a tough situation, I would choose the Raven.I won't be insulted, I won't be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.

P.o.c.
Got one that my wife bought years ago. Jams all the time, useless P.O.C.
I asked the local dealer whether he'd "lose" if for me, so I didn't have to keep track of where it was. He said that he'd give me a receipt, strip it, save a couple of bits for spares for people stupid enough to pay him to repair them, and grind up the frame. Still haven't got around to doing that, but one day I will.
Useless for plinking, useless for target shooting, and the Almighty really needs to intervene for anyone dumb enough to even think about using one for self defense. +1 to fishing weight.
As for the guy who recommends Glaser or Magtech rounds? They have been proven pretty damn near useless in real calibers. They'd be a joke in .25 (but then, anything in .25 is a joke, IMHO.)John -- bitter gun owner.
