    Glock Love

My first weapon is a Gen4 G17. I love it but want to know that I'm doing everything possible to be a better shooter. I need to know if I should change the standard sights to night sights or leave them alone? Also, should I change out the springs in the piece? I added a 3.5 connector which I think is freaking DOPE! Anything else I should add to my pistol would be done out of advice from fellow CG folks. I'll ultimately make the final decision but would like a bit of advice. Thanks for all and every reply that actually helps me to make up my mind. I don't plan on using this as home defense but rather a range pistol.
Help if you feel the need to do so

    1 love folks,

If it's just a range gun then there really is no need for night sights. I wouldn't change the springs neither. Just stock up on lots and lots of ammo. And mags. hahahaha.

I got a ghost 3.5 disconnecter for my SR9c and the trigger feels so much nicer. I love it. Congrats on your glock though. My first will definitely be a G20.

Wait, if you don't got $ for the range, how you gonna get to shoot that?

If I did, I would give Californians the right to let loose, fully auto, with any rifle belonging to a law abiding citizen. Even those who have had their 2nd amendment rights stripped away from them for no good reason. Also ammo would be so much cheaper

I have three Glocks, and each of them has a different sighting system. My G19 has factory night sights, which I like as they're the 3-dot kind which I'm familiar with on a lot of my other firearms. My G21SF has the stock square-and-white-dot sights, which I don't mind at all, and my G34 has a "competition" sight on it (can't remember the name now - I wasn't the first owner) which is all black and just the standard noth and post. I imagine it's a quick sight in broad daylight, but it kind of sucks for range shooting. I was thinking of swapping them out for night sights like on my G19.

Nightsights are a great mod, IMHO.

I am really for getting your son involved, teach 'em you and get them educated in proper safety.

The sites will work for now.

But nothing can compare to teaching your son proper, safe gun handling and his 'right of passage' with a .22.

All 5 of my kids (4 are adults now)...grew up with accountability and responsibility with various weapons. the .22 is a great start.!

One left...and at 13 she LOVES the GLOCK 26. (she also loves her Ruger 22/45)

Fewer people are killed with all rifles each year (323 in 2011) than with shotguns (356), hammers and clubs (496), and hands and feet (728).

I think it is important to note just what kind of improvements you are looking for.

If you are a beginner, nothing will help you more than trigger time and some personal instruction. 9mm is cheap enough I guess, but .22lr is even more so. You will get more trigger time from a .22lr when you think of it from an affordability stand point. You will have to buy another weapon or buy a conversion kit for you Glock though.

I don't think new sights are necessary until you have become confident in your fundamentals. After that, you can be more particular in your gear and look for ways to go from amateur to professional, for example.

                              ^ What he said.

I would've strongly recommended not changing the connector, or anything else for that matter. It's like somebody who never rode a motorcycle before wondering if he should change the front tire diameter.

The old saying is the best accessory you can spend money on to improve your shooting is a box of ammo.
