XD advice

OK so I was at the range the other day and decided to rent the XD9 sub compact. long story short, I liked it but thought it was a tad to small with out the extended magazine.

My question is do they make the XD9 in a compact size? some thing between the service and the sub compact?

No, but they do have magazine extensions for the compact, which makes the grip longer, but honestly, I've compared the two and the service model (which is 4")is not that much bigger than the compact (3"). I say go for the service model if you dont need it for a ccw and use it as a range gun.

4" is the service. i love my subcompact. feels solid with the pearce mag extensions. really dont care for the full size mags since the capacity is the same anyway.

Well here is the thing I already have a great range gun, Sig 226 in .40S&W. I would like some thing that should I ever find my self with the ability to conceal I could. When I shot the XD guy at the counter was nice enough to give me the extended mag to use, with that it was the perfect length grip.

I think the 5" is the tac model. 4" is the service model.

They make a 5" tactical, a 4" service, a 4" compact, and then the 3" sub compact. If you need the sleeves, perhaps you can try the Pearce grip extensions on the magazines. That's what is on my wife's XD SC, and I can shoot it just fine with my huge hands.

pearce grip extension FTW....thats what I use. (IMO) it makes it feel like a full frame but still keeps the size down.

I own the 4" service model and love it, but it makes a poor CC unluss it is winter time and you have many layers!

I like the compact one I got. But for ccw I would carry my .45. If I need it, the bad guy is going down for sure.

Yes, there is a 9mm compact grip...its a XDM compact 3.8 (3.8 inch barrel).
It's not on list, so you will have to single shot it in, oh and the 10-round magazine thing...

Yes, also on the pearce, I like it better than the factory sleeve, because (yea, we are limited 10) so the back part does not extend down.

I own the 5" Tactical model in .40 cal, and I Love it. I'm thinking about buying the XDM next. This has to be the best gun for your money. I have shot thousands of rounds through it with no problems. Very reliable.
