    Springfield EMP

    Hi All,

I was in Iron Sights in Oceanside talking to them about setting up a CalGuns shoot night (see http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=415023 ), and I noticed they had a 9mm EMP in stock. I held it, it feels great, looks nice. I did a search and read some older reviews, but I wonder what the current consenus is about the EMP? Good, bad, OK?

I made a thread about this gun about a month ago. The general consensus was that it was AMAZING, but too expensive. I held one at On-Target too, and yeah, it's pretty freaking amazing. If I ever get a job at a gun store, I think the first thing I'm going to buy is an EMP at a discounted price

No personal experience, but that's one from my top wish list. Pure 9mm 1911 awesomeness.

If you read older reviews, I hope you saw mine with the pictures in the Handguns Gallery section.

Mine has been great and I've gotten two friends to buy them too.

They are a little spendy, but you have to see where they fall, quality/workmanship wise in the Springfield family. I think the EMP falls somewhere between the the TRP an dthe Professional. If you consider that, the EMP is actually a good value

I have handled and fired this neat little pistol (a guy at the range had one and let me shoot it a lot)---a perfect size for a 9mm 1911 type---one day I may own one.

We love ours, and everyone who's shot it seems to feel similarly.

What everyone else said. Mine doesn't like reloads. The breech chamber is a bit tight in tolerance. I don't know if this is typilcal on all EMPs.

I enjoy mine very much. Well made, well finished and handles nicely, very little recoil. Mine was returned to Springfield for a problem, it was a "we've seen this more than a few times" issue of primer flow into the firing pin hole and was taken care of very quickly and hasn't come up again.

If only they weren't so pricey.

I have to ask, because I just don't understand it.

If a Springfield TRP is $1500 and a Professional is $2500, why would you consider an EMP at just over $1k pricey?...or is it that anything over $1k is pricey?

I love mine. Very accurate and smooth for a 3" barrel.

                              Fun to shoot.

Paid $1095.00 plus tax and fees. Comes with 3 mags.

Hey, a nice gun is going to cost, but it will retain its' value, and last a lifetime.

I've seen lots of guns that cost more, but aren't as nice, in my opinion.

If your hobby is guns, this pistol is somewhat of a collectable.

If you want to go cheap and ugly, get a Glock.
