It's not hard or very expensive to add an ambi safety to a 1911, so the lack of same on what you buy is not that big an issue.

Para moved down to the US from Canada a few years ago.

My vote goes to the SW1911. Ive had mine about 2yrs. noFTE or FTF. Eats reloads, hollow points, russian, ball, and anything else I put in it . Very Accurate as well. Smith got it right with external extractor. Bought mine at wild sports . 3 day sale 649. other gun shop said go buy it , he can't get them shipped for trhat price. the rest has been dead cans everywhere!

That Dan Wesson is dead sexy, BTW. It has very clean lines. I can't say too much about its reliability however. MIMbers are rip-offs, which is a shame, because when done right, they can be very very nice.

I guess if you really want something American, get a Les Baer. Or like I said earlier, a USGI A1 pistol.
MIMber's? Bad experience in ownership? Catastrophic failures? Tell us every reason in your experience why Kimber's that are less than $800 is under par compared to a SA loaded(Loaded with MIM parts as well) or a RIA, Colt, And SW all of which have MIM parts on them.

I beg to differ. Eric Buell is a god and is still making great bikes with out Harley backing him. But what do I know, I stoped road racing years ago and ride a BMW GS now. Back on topic why not look for a used Les Baer. If your price range is 1300 you should be able to find a Thunder Ranch or PII in that range.

            What about your bikes?
Please elaborate on the discontent you have for series II kimber's, Or I might be forced to say that you spent way too much on your Springfields

My point exactly, What do you know? It's actually Erik with a "k", And he is only making closed course race bikes. Besides, You are riding a BMW

[QUOTE=Ksmash01;6075959]I am rather fond of my S&W1911's......

So much in fact that I'd have to throw a pic of them in your face to push you in that direction. My camera doesn't do them justice....

                          +1 ^^

While I respect the Glock (only the 17) it does not work for me. To each their own. A gun is a tool, and that tool don't fit me well. The grip is actually to small for me and I don't like the trigger (my opinion). I also don't like weapons designed one way and changed by popular demand ( Glock 22). I will say the Glock 17 is one of the best 9mm handguns ever made just not my cup of tea. This is all my opinion so take it as a grain of salt. Now the 1911 is a bird of a different feather one that I carry off and on (switching with my H&K P7's) almost every day. I do respect the theory of fear the man with only one gun, but unfortunately don't follow that rule.

Doesn't get more American than a Colt M1911A1 IMO.

I recently bought a Stainless SA Loaded (US Made), but I'm still saving a spot for an 80 series Colt Gold Cup (Stainless) and a 70 Series Gold Cup (Blued).
