    Make sense.

Get a Colt, Dan Wesson, or S&W E-series.
USA matters...I am also buying a new car in next few month and a car that is USA made/ owned matters a ton to me...Likewise the gun being made in the USA is huge for me and friends is huge.

Handgun with Made in Brazil but USA owned is sorta laughable.

DW is out of question...Czech owned.

I am bagging on it because I am a patriotic fella who wants his 1911 to be made in USA.

Patriotism is lost with most people in America. I go out of my way to buy American. If it offends some people, I am happy that it does.

Yes, those are nice. I held one...I like Kimbers as I said and they are made in my home state of NY. So I have a soft spot for it but I think the Colt XSE will win this battle now...My buddy has committed to buying the Colt XSE this Sunday...My other buddy and I were thinking of buying it in one month or less. He is rushing us haha.

Are those sportbikes/motorcycles you list "made in USA"...just wondering?

Harley and Buell's don't have much to offer in the sportbike arena.

are you looking for a target gun or combat/play in the sandbox gun? the colt xse is a combat ready pistol mine shoots every thing from semi wad cutters and fmj to empty beercans and cycles just fine. if your in the market for a target pistol the lesbaer is in that price range and is a great pistol for the $. they both have great customer sevice .
the kimber SIS is also a great pistol ready for the sand box as well as competition
the most lodgical thing to do in this situation is simple buy them all
              good luck

I have a buddy in PA that has couple of Colt 1911s and he was one of two that urged me to get the FNP-9. Great advice...He has an SA but said get the Colt if you want something that is desirable, shoots excellent, and is well made. So yeah, I like the Colt XSE and I am sold. Thank you for everyone's input.

Thank you for all the responses.

I am leaning toward the Colt and then S&W.

Colts are a great choice. From what I hear their QC is hit or miss sometimes. Mine was stellar however. Les Baer is another "all American" choice....made in the heart of the good 'ole USA by American hands to the to the specs of a hardcore muscle car guy having owned both, I'd take a Baer over a Colt any day unless I were building a custom....nice to have that pony on the slide.

I've owned 3 kimbers. In fact, I carried one for awhile. All their series 2 runs are crap.

Many things are said to be made in the USA when in fact most of the parts are out sourced and come from ??? then put together here in the USA so for what it's worth good luck on that one....

Kinda funny about the US thing if you only buy American goods you must not wear clothes, watch TV, have a phone, know what time it is w/o a watch or a phone, eat many types of fruit, use a computer (I know nothing about it but I highly doubt Mac's are 100% USA made), put gas in your American vehicle....etc.

The most purely American thing to do as a consumer is to buy the best product you can with the money you've got. This breeds competition...ensuring we get the best services and products available at the most competitive prices possible. Anything less is charity.....America wasn't built on charity. I'd never buy something inferior and more expensive: ala Kimber, just because it's American. To each his/her own I guess.

Welcome to the global economy, that's all.

That Dan Wesson is dead sexy, BTW. It has very clean lines. I can't say too much about its reliability however. MIMbers are rip-offs, which is a shame, because when done right, they can be very very nice.

I guess if you really want something American, get a Les Baer. Or like I said earlier, a USGI A1 pistol.

Get the S&W 1911. I just picked mine up and love it. It's on sale too at Bass Pro Shops for $749. Took it apart and cleaned it. Such a beautiful and well made gun. It blows my mind away at the quality vs the price. Everyone in this forum seems to be chuggin down the SA Loaded Kool Aid right now. And nothing wrong with that gun, it's a great gun but I believe the S&W is a better built more reliable and accurate 1911. Get what feels best to you. Shooting mine tomorrow.
