I just shot my new Glock 19 today for the first time. While it is ok, it is nowhere close to my 34 as it relates to comfort and the lack of recoil. I do intend on using the 19 for concealed carry, but for home defense or at the range, the 34 is the way to go. As far as I am concerned my 17 is more confortable than my 19, but nowhere close to the 34. I also have a 26, which I plan on selling. It is just too small and hard to shoot. I can conceal the 19 just as easily as the 26, and it is much easier to shoot.

Not until you have the whole set (G26, G19, G17, G34, & G17L).

Get both. 17 first, then 34. Remember, the 17 can shoot underwater if you install the maritime spring cups and load it with FMJ ammo ONLY.

What are you hunting sharks with your Glock? Better be real careful before you go pulling the trigger underwater, lots of bad things can happen

34 unless you need to shoot underwater....still think you could probably just put the underwater parts in the 34.....F it, get the 34, put in the maritime spring cups, shoot it underwater, and post video.

I've been contemplating adding a full size glock to my collection. I do own a 19 (one of my favorite guns of all time) and am about to pick up a 26... but decided it would be nice to round out the system with a 34 or 17.

Anyone own both and can give me their assessment of the pros and cons? Is the 1" difference in sight radius a huge bonus?

Do you notice a difference in recoil or reacquisition of target?

Since this will be more of a range gun, I wonder if i wouldn't be better served with a Glock 17c. Although i wonder if the c versions are available in CA?

It depends on what you're going to do with your gun. If you're going to use it at the range and competition, then the G34 has the advantage. If you're going to use it as a SHTF, combat, duty, carry gun, then a G17 has an advantage.

Right now Turners has a G17 RTF on sale for $499.98, so this is also a good reason to go with a 17 over a 34.

The trigger is nicer on the 34, but it's nothing you can't do to a 17.
