This does violate the first rule of handgun safety. They do this to fill more guns on display(I think), what do you think of this common practice?

While the 4 rules are very important for gun safety, and I try to follow them as much as humanly possible, (sometimes even to a fault) I don't think there's anything wrong with displaying guns in this manner. Think about it, nobody is pointing them at anyone else and they're sitting inside a case with nobody's hands in there. This is something my FLGS (friendly local gun store) got right, actually. If memory serves, all firearms are laid with barrels parallel to the glass front of the display.
Not that it bothers me in the least. I trust the guy behind the counter that outguns me. If I didn't, I'd be screwed anyway...Comment

I don't care for the way they're displayed simply because turning my head sideways to look at pistols isn't something I'm used to doing at gun stores. To me, it says the pistols aren't on display for me but rather for the ease of the employees to pull out grip first.x

As long as the employees ALWAYS do a chamber check by racking the slide to ensure that the weapon is clear when taking it out of the case as well as chamber checking when returning the weapon into the case It doesn't bother me.Comment
