Bros! let's not confused DROS & out of state fee transfer charges,DROS is the record/DOJ w/c most FFL charges for 35$ and the out of state charge is payment for the labor/effort of the FFL to receive your Gun and disclosing his info to the out of state party. So at 50$, he only gets 15$ for the effort? fax,Email, phone, receiving & storage upon arrival.or 50 for the out of state transfer? this is the beef of the OP. JMTC

Poway Weapons & Gear doesn't charge tax (yet), it's $75 OTD.
True. Gussler's charge $60 plus tax for internet out of state sales. They tried to charge me a tax on my lower, but I had already paid that tax to Riflegear. It was just a misunderstanding. I always go to Gussler's for my transfers.

Let me break this down.... People are getting confused between

FTF(face to face)transfers... Meaning the buyer AND seller walk into the store to complete a transfer. That SHOULD be 35bucks anywhere. (I believe its law).

What I was asking was the charge for having a pistol shipped in from out of state and having the FFL be the middle man. Places charge anywhere from 50-150 bucks to do this. I don't believe the fee is state mandated.

I just went to straightline tactical. Despite the half hour drive, it was WELL WORTH IT. 50 bucks out the door. Tiny shop, hard to find, but great guys. Funny as **** and helpfull.

Straightline Tactical Wins. Only other place I'd consider is Riffle Gear just cause they are polite/helpfull whenever I go in there. However, they charge 75 bucks.

Is Straightline Tatical $50 bucks flat fee? I'm still a little bit confused...

Okay this is what I understand... there are 2 types of transfers. One is face to face between two private parties. One is from a seller such as Atlantic Firearms shipping a gun to a FFL in SD which a private owner can than process his DROS.

For type 1, i believe the standard should only be 35 and thats by law. 25 for DROS and 10 dollar dealer fee.

For type 2, dealer can charge whatever they want. They also have to charge sales tax on the gun (correct me if I'm wrong here?). So for example if I'm getting a gun shipped from Atlantic Firearms to Parallax, if its a rifle its going to cost me $35, and if its a pistol its going to cost me $40. Other places may charge more. For example, Turners charges $125.

This is what I got when I emailed them. I'm doing a transfer from Budsgunshop.com(KY) to Straightline Tactical in Anaheim:

"Dealer transfers are $25, and the state charges $25 for the DROS, so your total would be $50.

The tax you are referring to is sales tax. At this time we do not charge sales tax on transferred guns, but we have our accountant and our attorney examining the applicable law because there is considerable debate on the subject and we may be forced to start charging sales tax.
                  "

No clue on what their PPT is, didn't ask.

Thats actually pretty sweet. If your gun is over $300 and the FFL charges tax your going to end up paying over $25 for what the dealer charges anyways.

Wonder how much longer they won't charge sales tax...

On a side note, not to thread jack the OP but I figure it would be useful info for others....

What does Straightline Tactical charge for FTF PPT's?

Heh, from the date you posted this on, I was actually at Straightline on the same day to pay for a transfer also ($50 OTD). Yup, tiny shop and a little hard to find when you drive around in the parking lot, but a great place and great guys.

Don does it all, give him a call.
