That's not what I'm saying, you said that a non-leo has some special circumstance or connections when I and a handful of my buddies from various counties do not. If you want current info on the status of all the counties look here:

In San Diego County it's all up to the Sheriff's discretion. If he doesn't feel your reason for a CCW is good enough, he will deny it. It seems you have to be rich or politically connected to get a CCW in San Diego County.

I was just amazed at the level of ignorance/laziness/whatever of the OP asking a question such as the topic of his thread. If I was the reviewing officer handling his application, I would not approve his CCW.

CCW is the ultimate responsibility. it requires a high degree of research, sophistication, and maturity. Features clearly lacking in the mindset of the OP.

Maybe the rest of you will gladly give him a CCW like it was a Costco card but I wouldn't.

CCW is not the "ultimate responsibility" by any practical metric; see, e.g., the data from ~40 shall-issue or no-license states. I, for one, am pleased that our Constitution present a better policy than subjecting our rights to the discretion of a an ill-informed petulant child.

Actually, in many instances, yes; that can definitely be a 'bad' place to get [accurate] information. You'll get a Chiefs share of hat, but not a lot of cattle.

It depends on what county you live in. If you live in LA or SF... you will probably not be able to get one... however there are quite a few CCW friendly counties.

I believe you can carry a gun on a belt clip in CA but the gun must be unloaded with the magazine out. The gun must be visable as well.

It says u haveto be 21 and over to get a CCW I thought there was no specified age for CCWs in Cali. Isn't it 18 then since they do not specify?

An excerpt from a recent letter to a county:

"All persons twenty-one (21) years or older are eligible for a Carry Concealed Weapon license..."

There is no statutory authority for such a restriction upon the adult class of residents aged 18-21. Since the text of the statute on firearm carry licensure is silent as to age, it implies the Legislature's intent and understanding that the law would be read to apply to all non-prohibited adults over the age of 18. Further, persons over the age of 18 may lawfully own and possess a handgun or other firearm capable of being concealed; accordingly, there is no rational basis for such a restriction. Establishing a system which favors certain classes over others is a violation of applicants' Equal Protection of the law. The protections of the bill of rights has consistently been held to apply equally to all those over 18 years of age.

As shooterdude posted! Its called California Open Carry! I've seen ppl in LA do this, but then again, be prepared to get pulled over left and right by law enforcement. They wont arrest you if you follow the guideline, but you will be asked a lot of questions. There was a lawsuit before when someone was arrested under COC which he was following all proper guidelines. He then sued the law enforcement and won $40k out of the case.
