    1911 or Glock

so I have about 30 days till I can buy another handgun (stupid laws) and I am looking at 2 guns right now and would like some help deciding what to get first (I intend to get both but I just want to know what to get first)
also if you could post why you chose what you did that would be helpful too

so my two choices are the RIA 1911 tactical

    and the glock 17
    178
    RIA 1911

    Glock 17

That punk pulled a Glock 7 on me. You know what that is? It's a porcelain gun made in Germany. Dosen't show up on your airport X-ray machines, here, and it cost more than you make in a month.

I would get the Glock first. The supply of 3rd gens is surely drying up, so unless you opt for a used gun or 4th Gen, you need to hurry.
Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

If you plan on getting both, then it really doesn't matter which one you get first.

Get the Glock, it's a better more reliable gun. 1911's are great but I'd consider looking at something a little better than a RIA. There are a lot better 1911 choices out there.

Don't get me wrong I love me some 1911's, and I've heard great things about the RIA's, but I'm super happy with my g17, currently in my OS bag.
Now if this was between a Les Baer, or Nighthawk and the G17, I'd be going 1911.

i am not wanting to start a debate i just want some thoughts on what to get first rromeo had a good point about the 3rd gen glocks supply drying up eventually
like i said i am going to get both either way so the whole glock is better or 1911 is better bla bla bla stuff doesnt effect my decision

If this is just a "fun gun" and not a carry piece....RIA Tactical, but if it's a HD or carry gun Glock 17 first, then get the RIA in 30 days. Of course you can buy all the the used guns you want, it's only new guns that are limited.

                      You can buy both eventually..

But get the GLOCK first. Soon, they will be hard to get. The GLOCK will last you and your grandkids a lifetime.

Personally I don't like the RIA 1911. I guess I'am spoiled by my real, Colt 1911s that run perfectly and don't look like they were painted with a can of flat black paint.

When you do get a 1911, step up a few bucks and get a keeper.

Oh..and you can by as many guns as you want without the 30 day wait if you buy from a Private Party. (PPT). Only from a dealer (FFL) do you have to wait 30 days.

Get yourself a clean GLOCK 17 and wait only 10 days.

i would love to buy a used 3rd gen Glock, but all the Glocks i have seen for sale are way too high (like $550-$650) and i dont see why i should buy a used Glock for $550 when i can get a used one for less

I think it depends on what you have now. What about if you pretend that you will not be able to buy both, which gun would you be happier with? They're just so different than the other.

Personally, if I had to pick one I think it'd be the Glock. I love 1911s but the Glock is a more practical choice.

I'm a 1911 guy primarily but I shoot Glocks, HK's and Smith wheel guns as well. That being said....I'll take a Glock over a RIA any day. It's not pretty but it'll perform and I don't need to list all the attributes of a Glock I've handled and shot a couple RIA's. They're of the 1911 design but not really what I'd call a 1911. Theyr'e pretty rough. Shot reasonably accurate and fed ball reliably but were simply rough and ugly. They look like a 1911 and function....that's about it. Fit and finish was horrible. You get what you pay for. The lowest I'd go with a 1911 would be a Springfield entry level Mil-Spec or something along those lines. They have excellent cs if it ever comes to that as well.
