Just trying to keep inventory on my Ammo stash and starting to wonder how the heck would i carry all this in a SHTF situation? 6 Ammo cans full of 4 different calibers. Maybe bunker down? Maybe take loaded mags to go?

What would YALL say is a nice round number?

You can never have enough ammo. For what is technically enough just remember you need to be able to carry it yourself.

I know a few people with a LOT of ammo in other states. I mean a lot. If the world ends, I'll be heading toward them ;-). For SHTF, if I had only 2 guns to grab it'd be my Glock 19 and a .22 rifle which I have yet to buy. Once I get my .22 it's not out of hand to get 10,000 rounds of ammo which are very easily transport by car or Pelican case. Even in 9mm the best SHTF ammo is Blazer aluminum since it's so darn light and still will pierce through most things. Despite having only 2 choices for SHTF I'd have my Glock 20 Mexican style just for the heck of it ;-)

ya my wife would have the shotgun and glock i owuld have my AR with the .22 conversion bolt and be carrying more ammo than her cuz she already has the shotgun. i figured i carried 10 28 round mags in afghanistan but that was with kit on so without my kit i could probably do at LEAST 1000 5.56(we had the saw gunners carrying that much plus gun and kit and i am stronger than him) and maybe 200 shotgun rounds assorted. and about 1000 .22 plus some food water and a shelter. then the essential survival tools. i'm going to have to try all this out very soon. i'm just kinda wingin this right now. my wife is a tough b**** she can hold her own too.

I have to add to Dirty's post here. In the perfect world of SHTF, I'd have a Glock, a .22 AND a 12 gauge like the Mossburg 930SPX. In a perfect world I'd have a TON of money to buy anything I want ;-)

ya in a perfect world i owuld have load baring entities of energy to carry my gear and food would kill and cook itself and some how a fortress is getting built around me.... but damn it aint like that and our shoulders and feet can only handle so much... a rule i go by:

OUNCES= POUNDS POUNDS=PAIN.


pack lite but smart dont overdue it but make sure you have enough. you can always drop gear later if need be.

the only way i would take a 22 if there were zombies running around is if it was full auto. im talking about a M4 with a 22 kit in it that way i could switch it up from 22 to 223

well i went off budget and bought 6 boxes of .45 ACP Golden Saber 230 gr for $18.19 a box at Bain & Davis this week. price was too good to pass up; guess i didn't have enough ammo....
