Did you recently detail strip your Glock? If so, check your slidestop, make sure it is installed correctly.Comment

Sounds like either magazine issue, extractor issue, or recoil spring issue.
I had a similar problem like that before and on 1 gun it was the magazine (the lips needed to be bent a little bit), and on another gun... a Glock... it was the recoil spring. Swapped it out for a new factory one, broke it in, and it was good to go.Comment

Yeah, you really need to answer the question: DID YOU OR SOMEONE ELSE RECENTLY DISASSEMBLE YOUR FRAME?
It's a very common mistake to reassemble incorrectly w/ regards to the pins and slide lock spring, and the symptoms of said error are exactly as you describe.sigpicComment

I'd go with this answer first.
Second, the slide stop spring was installed wrong, but this would happen on every shot, not just the first.
Mag springs locking slide back after 1 shot? I doubt it.
Last thought? The slide stop spring is broken and it's bouncing around getting caught randomly in the up position.NRA Life Member and Certified Instructor: Pistol - Rifle - Shotgun - PPITH - PPOTH - NRA Certified RSO

Just out of curiosity, how would the extractor have anything to do with it? BTW, there is no break-in period for a factory recoil guide rod/spring. It will be and perform exactly the same whether it is brand new, or has 300 rounds behind it.Sounds like either magazine issue, extractor issue, or recoil spring issue.

300 rounds, sure. But the OP said he's put around 2000 rounds through it in the past 5 years. I had to replace my recoil spring on a Glock 19 that had approx 2000 rounds due to the same reasons/symptons as what the OP explained. Whether or not that is his problem and replacing the recoil spring & guide rod will take care of his problem, it was only a $9 part so it couldn't hurt to try.Comment

Shoot a couple of rounds pull the mag and see if the rounds are moving forward in the mag.
Just because the round is a 230 grain bullet doesn't mean the bullet shape is the same as others. If the bullet is shorter than others you've shot it will be thicker farther out. It could be moving forward in the mag and the catch is hitting the bullet. Check your slide stop for signs of copper. If you find copper then your bullets are hitting the stop, causing your problem.I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.
When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.Comment

That wasn't my point at all. I was referencing your post regarding this:300 rounds, sure. But the OP said he's put around 2000 rounds through it in the past 5 years. And then I was making the point that there is no 'break-in' for a Glock guide rod/spring assembly, hence the new vs. 300rds reference.

The frame, barrel assemble and magazine has never been taken apart before. The problem is probably on the magazine spring.
I have just got a brand new M&P9 last weekend and I notice it is a lot harder to load in bullets into the M&P9 magazine than my Glock magazine, which was having the problem with the pistol as I have described.Comment
