As soon as I'm back from my trip I'll be stopping by Greta's guns in Simi Valley. I was there couple weeks ago and they had a ton of 1911s, I recall few of them were 9s.

I'm looking to do an intrafamily transfer on a 9mm 1911, but I was wondering which would be the better gun to get? Kimber Pro Carry II or RIA 9mm 1911? The Kimber looks really nice, but the RIA is half the price. The black finish on the Kimber looks better than the parkerized finish on the RIA, but then a stainless Kimber would look sweet too.
Since I have no idea if I'll like it but I want to get it just because I can, which one is more desired if I want to get rid of it and get a .45 1911 instead?Comment

I saw a springfield in 9mm at Discount Gun Mart in Santee earlier today. It's going for about $980. Give them a call if any of you guys want one.Comment

Got my Kimber used and had few issues with the FTF/FTE and after messing with it without much success, I reluctantly sent it back to Kimber ($90 in shipping since it was out of warranty). It took them 5 weeks to get it done but was done free of charge, they polished the ramp, swapped out the spring, guide rod and adjusted the extractor.
Compaired to my Colt 9mm, Kimber was much more finicky with the ammo and magazine but now it runs great. If I had a choice between Colt, Kimber and Springfield, I would pick Colt then Springfield over Kimber just because of my experience.Comment

I have a Kimber Target II in 9mm. When I purchased it new the pistol would not extract a single round. I was able to tension the extractor at the range though in about 5 minutes and it shot flawlessly after that...except the hammer would drop with the thumb safety engaged so it went back to the factory for repair.
Since then its been great, and is one of the favorite pistols my friends always want to shoot when we go to the range. They like the accuracy, trigger pull, easy to see sights and lack of recoil."You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."
"What we get away with isn't usually the same as what's good for us"
"An extended slide stop is the second most useless part you can put on a 1911"
"While Ruger DA revolvers may be built like a tank, they have the aesthetics of one also,
although I suppose there are a few tanks which I owe an apology to for that remark"Comment

Sammy - I have my SA 1911 9mm and love it.
With the price of ammo keeps going up, 9mm would be the way to go!!----------------------------------------

Gretas
Their prices are through the roof not to mention the illegal fees they charge and attitude they love to give. Look around on the internet for one and have it sent to Fort Courage in Simi. I bet after everything it would still be cheaper to do so.
