It looks like I am going to have around $1000.00 to spend on a new gun at the end of the year. I have wanted a 1911 in 9mm for quite some time. All the 1911's I currently own are 5" .45acp simply for reliability and single stack competition. The only options here in California for 9mm 1911's are the Kimber full size and the Springfield EMP. After going to a shop today and checking out a EMP, I have fallen in love. It looks like they had some reliability problems with the first 2500 or so but have since ironed out any problems. Any feedback on 9mm 1911's of any flavor would be appreciated. I am mainly concerned about reliability. I can't stand to have an unreliable gun even if I can't get a carry permit in this county. Thanks all, Sammy

I have a Kimber Target II in 9mm and it run smooth right out of the box. I put about 400 rounds through it so far and no issues. Hard to find in our state but worth the money! -
The dreaded Roster shows Springfield's PX9130L (lists it twice, normal and ambi safety?) and Springfield's web site shows the PX9130LP - It's in the Loaded series.
I can't attest to the reliability. My 1911's are .45acp.
The EMP does look nice, but can you get it for $1000.00?
You might browse around the XDTalk site or submit your query there about the EMP and the PX9130 (provided it really is legal in California).Send Lawyers, Guns and Money - On second thought, hold the Lawyers.Comment

I have had my Kimber SS Target II in 9mm for about 1-1/2 months. It has shot 975 flawless rounds, thus far. This is by far my smoothest and most accurate shooting 9mm.Comment

If you can find one, a Kimber Pro Carry II in 9mm is a great gun, it is not on the roster so you will have to find someone who has it and is willing to part with it. I carry a Kimber Pro Carry II in .45 for my off duty and when I found the 9mm, I grabbed it up to save some money on rounds. It is such a great little gun that my wife has taken to carrying it for her CCW.
Stay safe and good luck,

This is my shield.
I bare it before me into battle, but it is not my own.
It protects the brother on my left.
It protects my city.
I will never let my brother out of its shadow, nor my city from its
shelter.
I will die with my shield before me, facing the enemy.

I have a SA Loaded Stainless in 9mm. Works fine, feels like there's sand in the slide compared to a Kimber. I don't like the rear sight because it's squared off and needs to be radiused, or replaced. If I bought another one, I would prefer to go without a stainless steel firearm. Just a personal preference.sigpicComment

I'm leaning towards the Springfield PI9134LP which is also hard to find.Comment

I transferred a Colt Combat Commander in 9mm. Gotta love having an accommodating 07 FFL nearby. In general, 9mm 1911's will be more finicky than their .45 counterparts.WTS all BNIB: Colt S70 Repro, HK45c, Gen4 G19Comment

I love mine and find them not finicky at all. A 9mm Colt Commander or Combat Commander is a lot of fun and a great pistol.Comment

My SA Loaded 9mm has been perfect! never a glitch! had it for a year, nearly 2000 rounds and right out of the box it's been awesome! My dad has one too, his is the same. Bang every time! shoots anything I put it in, handloads, lead, you name it. I had to have mine shipped in from a shop in AZ since I couldn't find one here in SD. My Dad waited a year to find one come into a store here, so they're not easy to come by. I'm sure you'll love it! Seems like every post I put on here is how much I love my 9mm 1911!
I don't have experience with 9mm Kimber's, but I will say that my Dad recently purchased a 'regular' Kimber and had to send it back because of feeding issues. They did some work on it (not an expert in the gunsmith department, so not sure what they did) and it seems better now. But it was a disappointment right out of the box.
I vote for the Springfield if you can find one!
Good luck!sigpicComment
