    Revolvers

I already have a Taurus PT 92 AF 9mm PARA, S&W 38 Spl and NAA 22 mag. I'd like to pick up another Revolver and I'm thinking a 357 would be a good way to go. The S&W 38 I have is not recommended for +P ammo and I'd like to have a little more muscle.
Ruger seems to have a pretty good rep. For the money, what's gonna give be the most bang (no pun intended) for my buck?

    Definitely a Ruger. SP101, or GP100.

Find a nice used S&W 686 4" or 6". The prelock ones are preferred but any 686 should do the job for ya!!

My GP100 makes .357's feel like nothing. .38's feel like .22's. It's not as refined as the 686, but it's the best bang for your buck.

Used S&W 686 4", if you wanna be a pre-lock snob have at it but good luck finding one. Mine has the lock and I got it used in excellent condition for about what a new Ruger costs. Everything mechanical is just that much smoother on a S&W, although the Rugers are great guns too. Very tough and dependable, just not quite as refined as the S&W, IMO.

After the SP101, I went with a 6" 686P. I was looking for the added velocity of the 6" barrel in .357 Mag. If you're looking for a nightstand gun, a 4" barrel is probably more practical.

If you don't mind spending the money, the S&W 327 M&P TRR8 is one rad revolver. Sweet gun.

                  This man knows his stuff.

The S&W is a fine revolver, but too much money compared to Ruger.

For my money, it would be Ruger...

If you are talking bang for your buck Under $400, I don't think you can do better than finding a used Ruger Security Six. It is the predecessor to the GP 100. Just as tough, but much less like a sledgehammer

If bang for you buck in the $600-$700 ish range, a used 686+

Saw a real nice 3inch blued Ruger GP100 in the sales forum. Thats the one I would get.

                          Agreed.
I did a trigger job on my GP100 and I think the trigger feels as good as S&W.
I also have a Speed Six in .38 Special. This is a tough gun.
I always regretted selling my Security Six to buy the GP100. I still like the GP100, I just want both. Luckily, the Speed Six is very comparable to the Security Six.
Ruger is definitely the best value in a .357 Revolver. Taurus is cheaper, but no comparison in quality. Spend the $ and get the Ruger.
                          Good luck.

For great quality at a fair price Ruger all the way. I have a GP100 4" stainless it was my first handgun and still is. I did a trigger job, changed springs and a HiViz front sight and just love shooting this gun. I know this gun will outlast me and probably a few more generations. ojisan thats a nice collection you have there. Here's my GP. Redhemi

Another vote for the GP100 as a workhorse .357 revolver. I have many revolvers, yet I abolutely love the GP100.
