Then why are you asking if you should buy a Glock 21?

HK MK23. the only pistol built to be a "Combat Offensive" one, and the only one officially adopted by SOCOM and iirc, rated for 30,000 rounds of +P ammo. I don't think a 1911 would last to that standard and the Colt SOCOM lost to HK.
      Seriously missing the 80's.....

Congratulations on the kimber. Now you will have to give us some pics and a range report. Mark

I like both I have both.

I have a Colt 45 Gold Cup Series 70. Purchased a G21 SF with picatinny rail because I want a 45 I can shoot the crap out of. I could do the same with the Gold Cup but the Glock is definitely more rugged and of lesser monetary value. Mine comes home this weekend

I have the Glock 21SF. I love it. I'll be getting an RIA 1911A1 (hear a lot of good things about them). I didn't want to break the piggy bank picking up a 1911. So to start off and somewhat complete my collection (which is never ending, btw), I thought I'd pick up a SA 1911. It's a very different platform from what I have researched so far. However, my Glock or my snake (Colt Python) would still be my go to HD guns if anyone gets passed my 3 dogs.

My favorite and best shooting 45 is my Springfield XD, but I would recommend a 1911 of some kind. It is a classic and the grand daddy of all the modern autos.

I sound like a broken record with this but a 1911 is not a good self defense platform for the majority of gun owners. Why? Because you must practice practice practice drawing and flipping the safety off until you're blue in the face. Then you have to do the same thing engaging the safety after you shoot. Why? Let's say you're in a shooting. You're probably going to be completely shaken with a hair trigger in your hand that you forgot to make safe after you shot the bad guy. The Glock takes a deliberate pull from the first to second to last shot. There's no special training involved and is psychologically a perfect combat platform for the majority of gun owners. Oh, and the Glock will work no matter what. If you're wanting a 1911 simply as a range gun, yeah, they're fun. But as your (I'm assuming by what you wrote) 2nd gun, then this will also be a home defense weapon by default.

Cineski...... This is great input... and I couldn't agree more!

The OP got a Kimber TLE... instead... a good choice in 1911... Glad to hear you are thinking about a 21 next year... Great Idea... try to find a G21 sf.. like this one.. I wish I could call it mine... but it's just the best looking one I could find on the net to entice... you... toward getting one.. like it..
