A Glock story

So to be fair I am not much of a Glock fan, not a hater, but I feel that they really have failed to stay current, and have been eclipsed by the XD... ease of take down, ergonomics, and additional safeties coupled with reliability, Glock needs to improve their product. <-- My personal thoughts.

What I observed at the range:
One of my fellow recruits, who is LE already has the new Gen 4 glock sub compact in 9mm... I watched the extractor break and fall out after 4 rounds.
I laughed.
But then my S&W 4506 ejector broke after shooting + p ammo

Man, you people sure had your share of problems in a single range session. I haven't had anything like that to happen to any of my handguns, including the ones i shoot the most (two of which are Glocks).

I still prefer Glocks to xDs, they just feel better ergonomically to me, and I like the trigger better. xD's grip safety is nice, but it really isn't essential to me. That being said, I use a subcompact xD as my bedside gun because of the grip safety (and because it already has night sights, and because if I ever have to use it in self-defense, I'd rather lose that to the police than a Glock 34 or 35. I know, it's sad that one has to consider something like this), and I use Glocks for everything else

Its definitely easier, I've field stripped my dads XD 9 hundreds of times and my buddies glock 23 about 50-100 times the other day. The mechanics on the XD make the break down easier.

XD: You flip a lever, release the slide, pull the trigger and it pops off.

Glock: Rock slide 1/4 way back or w/e distance, hold it, manipulate both ends of the takedown piece and pull the trigger at the same time.

I guess with muscle memory the glock could be one simple fluid motion, but having to do stuff at the same time is definitely more complicated than a step by step.

There is a ten times easier way to remove the slide on a glock. Make sure it's unloaded of course. Just push on from the front above the barrel and use the other hand to pres down the buttons/triggers on either side and it pops off. Far far far far far easier than pulling from the rear and trying to remove it. Every review online shows them doing it the hard way. sorry but it's so damn quick via the front and if you know it's unloaded and cooled down, no reason not to.
