XD9
And
RIA .45 Tactical
But which one?
-Both are easy for me to manipulate being a southpaw.
-Both are within my price range
-Both have the famous JMB grip angle that feels right to me
-Both have very functional safety features (each in their own way)
-Both fire readily available ammo
-Both seem to be reliable shooters.
-Both have excellent triggers, IMO.
My uses are:
1. Home Defense
2. Campsite and hotel room security...(two-legged stuff)
3. SHTF go-to gun
4. Possibly a fun, mildly competative shooting sports gun. (I don't plan on being it being much more than a fun thing to do every once in a while.)
The ammo cost nod goes to the XD9, but honestly I think 9mm and .45acp are about the same in my book as far as effectiveness. (after much reading, research and shooting time).
Both my wife and I shoot them both well. I like the idea of the "pick-it-up and fire" ability of the XD, as well as the instant ability to mount a weapon light.
I definitely planning on carrying it around my property when I'm working though, so a cocked and locked 1911 seems very smart when working with tree's and snags etc..(because of the manual safety) Also love the heft, and the longer sight radius of the 1911.
hmmmm...
