Since I don't do pork, I would go with the 1911.

bacon makes everything better, but I think you need bacon and a firearm. For example:
A-hole breaks in, sees bacon, starts eating and gives you a chance to grab your GLOCK and shoot his @$$.

i chose the xd9 i have one with 3000 rounds through it and not one problem. i went 2000 rounds even without cleaning it and still no problem. good accuracy and easy to clean

i too am looking at 1911's but not RIA only because i'd want an American 1911. Im not knocking the quality just my 2 cents i think i narrowed my 1911 decision down to a S&W sw1911pd

Agreed. Funny, but of the two glocks Ive shot, both fired out of battery!

          recently, I was going back and forth between a px4, p250, xdm3.8, and a few 1911's.

After reading everyones input, handling the weapons, I have decided to go with the xdm3.8 in 9mm. 20 rounds and I get to rub it in ALL your faces!

Gun feels so natural, and the trigger is awesome. I know, I know, a 1911 has the better trigger, but I like the xdm trigger.

I have the XD 40 service ,and first day at the range i thought this thing is a piece of junk the trigger is horrible, and i cant hit a thing with it unless i throw it at something. At that point i was ready to sell it,but i thought i would give it a few more tries ,and still the same problem can't hit a thing.I talk to a guy at the range ,and he says i need to put at least 500 round through it before the trigger breaks in.I was at the 350- 400 mark ,i dont think 100-150 more round was going to change my mind about selling it.Boy was i wrong right at the 500 mark the trigger completely changed and now i can hit what ever i aim at . I love this thing now.

I think you will be happy with it.Its not a 1911 ,but it does have a better trigger than a glock !!IMO.

In a free state, the 16rd mag capacity would certainly give the nod to the XD for a PD situation, but since CA limits it to 10, it's only 2 more than the 1911.

I like both guns. I like the 1911 better and would not be against selling the XD.
In fact I did sell my XD45. Had nothing against the gun, was a good, reliable shooter, but it wasn't a 1911.

Ive got two RIA's, A GI and a CS. Probably over 5000+ rounds through both without a malfunction, including HP ammo. I really truly love them. I gave my Glock to my wife, I sold my XD, and now My pistols consist of two RIA's and my Draco. Go for the RIA tactical OP, its a great shooter.
