Default My Berettas - 92 Inox and M9 w/ Comp. [UPDATED 12/15/10]

[Updated 12/15/10: I posted some new pictures, see post #26]

I took some pictures of the Beretta in what I think are their nearly "Final Form." The only thing missing is an oversized mag release for the M9--just haven't found one at a good price yet in black.

Inox is a 92FS from 1997, M9 is a 2008 M9 Commercial.

Anyways, here we go:

A guy named Ric over at the beretta forums makes them. They're based on the SGS compensators made in Italy in the 80's. Honestly, I /just/ bought this M9, and installed the Compensator. I haven't even gotten it to the range yet. Plan to do that soon!

Wow.... those like very nice. Makes me made I had to sell my EliteII. (atleast it went to a calgunner)

Let us know how that compensator does after your first range trip with it.

I'm after the slide from an Elite (or at least just an Inox Brigadier slide). Too bad you had to let it go--hopefully you can pick up a new one.

I figure I'll give a few specs on both of them:

Inox - USA 1997. Purchased from a fellow calgunner (aatruong, thanks again!) He had already installed the Elite Hammer, the "D Spring" (which is the trigger spring from a 92D--makes the DA/SA lighter and break smoother), and the oversized magazine release. The grips are "Farrar" rubber grips that came off one of the older models from the factory. Also since it is older, it has the stainless steal mags. These are hard to find, but the stainless steel floorplates are even harder to find...

M9 Commercial - USA 2008. I just recently purchased this from a guy in Georgia from BerettaForum.net, and received it from the FFL this week. He also had already installed the Elite Hammer and "D Spring." Now it's just up to me to find an oversize mag release. The grips came off a rare "Competition Kit" which was made in the mid 80's to early 90's for the 92F. The kit was a 170mm weight on the front that extends with the slide, and a 7" long barrel. Higher front sight, and included a competition adjustable rear sight.

I have this kit, but I don't have it installed as it uses a threaded barrel to lock down the front... damn California.

Impressive M9, I've never seen one setup like that before! Also, love the Umbrella patch.

It is super easy, though it can involve a bit of work. It uses an extended guide rod and a bolt at the end. Slide the rod through, slide the comp over the rod, and bolt it down. But--the two wings that wrap around the frame are made to be fit the tightest of frames. So it would not fit my INOX, but it slid on nice on the M9 (beretta has several different minor widths to the frame).

If it doesn't fit, the wing just needs to be lightly sanded down until it fits over the frame.

What kind of hammers are those? How'd it affect the performance of your Berettas? I'm always on the look out on ways to improve the performance of my 92fs.

They are the hammers off the Beretta Elite II. No performance upgrade, just sexy looking. IIRC, members of the Beretta Forum have shown that they're both the same weight, and operate the same.

Also, Brownells has them for cheap ($17, usually in the $40-$50 range. BUSA sells them for $50).

to improve the dip after the trigger is pull, you will need the elite hammer, D spring (beretta), reduce power trigger spring (wolf) and a trigger action polish.

the stock 92 hammer carries too much momentum when it strikes the firing pin.

also, a barrel bushing would help the accuracy because it would hard lock the tip of the barrel. i don't know if the comp does the same thing.

Thanks wu,

D spring, and metal guide rod were the first things I did when I got my gun. I tried the reduced power trigger spring from Wolff, it lightened up the pull a lot, but the reset is TERRIBLE now. Going to get the hammer and see where things go from there.

Updated Pictures of them The M9 is in its current state as a workhorse, only addition to it is an extended magazine release. The 92FS Inox is now sporting a Brig upper with Elite 4.7" Barrel.

Thanks man! It's funny, the way the flash bounced of the Inox, it almost looks baby blue.

Regardless, go get one! You can get a real nice, non-modded 90's Inox for $550-$600 easy!

The Inox Brig slide is quite a bit harder to come by, I think I got a decent price. Paid $400 for the Brig upper and Elite/Vertec barrel together as a complete upper.

That is the standard blued elite hammer. As far as I'm aware, there isn't a stock Inox elite hammer. The one on mine was bead-blasted by the previous owner.
