Are you insinuating that some moron will pay 1k or more for an XDM......... I certainly hope not.

If you want to buy for resale then an off list 1911 or Sig will pull more than the others on your list.

I used to own a first gen Kimber Custom Classic. Loved that weapon until I had to clean/field strip it. I guess I got spoiled with my Glocks. The Sig with the DA first shot is a good idea if I ever had to use it in a HD/SD situation but still have the option to pull the hammer back for a SA when more precision is necessary. The XDM has the smallest grip for a hi-cap 45. I've got 2 Glocks I'm planning to sell to fund this buy.

Not sure how you are going to swing getting the XDm into California, unless you are a LEO. You should look at the M&P 45. Nice shooting pistols.

He must be LEO because the Sig p220 Match Elite isn't on the list either.

if grip size and comfort is your concern, i suggest you try them all out first.
the sig p220 elite also has a wide grip like the regular p220.
the xdm is better than the xd because it has interchangeable back straps (http://www.gunblog.com/review-springfield-xdm-45/)
and is smaller than the glock 21sf and sig p220 elite.
personally, the SA loaded 1911 has the best ergonomics and smallest grip.

i would suggest you look at an older w german/german P220 in 9mm or .45 ACP. you might just catch the Signess....

the grip on the G21SF is too big for me; i feel like i'm holding a tree trunk when i shoot it. my son loves his G21SF, but it's not for me.

An XDm .45 could very realistically push a grand considering the prices a 9mm can fetch. And since it's already one of the models that's being considered, keeping it is a realistic option if he ends up liking the way it shoots.

All three of those are good guns. If you really want to stick with a .45 I would simply add look at the CZ 97, its not well known but a great 10 round .45 acp gun.

The trigger pull is fine for me, but then I shoot DA Ruger revolvers and have no problems after a couple hundred rounds to smooth things out. In terms of pounds for the trigger pull I have no idea, though it will depend on if your fireing DA or SA. I would recomend renting one first to see if you like it, it is a BIG gun and may not fit you well if you have smaller hands.

EDIT, here is the CZ page on it if your interested CZ 97

Limited specifically to the three you mention I would get the Sig without hesitation.

I have a P220 and will say it is a wonderful weapon! I shot the XD (not the XDM) and could not shoot it accurately to save my life. I have two SA loadeds that both shoot more accurately and with a smoother trigger pull than any pistol I've ever fired. One of them did need a trigger job out of the box, but even before that if was better than my sig or any poly gun I've felt. I doubt you could make either of your other choices shoot as accurately as a SA Loaded, assuming you can even get the other choices into CA.
I voted against Obama before it was cool.

The full length dust cover rail makes a world of difference in the "when I run out of bullets I'm going to beat you to death with the pistol" look that causes bad guys to run in fear, and lesser men to feel inadequate. It looks just plain beastly and the extra heft up front does help manage recoil a bit better. Plus, an angel told me that when God called JMB to heaven it was to build him a full rail 1911!

Dont want to take over the conversation but an XDM isn't worth 1k on or off list. Its a slight improvement over a Croatian designed gun (HS2000) that Springfield bought the rights to. IIRC the Croatian XD was selling for 200 or more less before SA came in and bought the rights......

                                Look familure!

I had an XD. It was ok. Then I read some reviews that would have the grip safety pop out, the loaded chamber indicator freeze in the up position and the striker status indicator brake off.

XDM and XD do not have the history of being a quality and dependable firearm like SA 1911 or Sig.

A 1000 dollar XDm is almost as laughable as 1000 dollar lowers were during the Obama scare.
