Go to SIG forum. You'll read lots of negative posts about SIG QC and CS. It's not all negative, but there's an overabundance of it over other manufacturers.

Thats an exaggeration. I frequent Sigforum as well and read just as many positive experience. Although it might be different with getting guns refinished. Most of the positive stuff I hear is from people getting replacements, serviced, fixed, etc.

Were you asking for the older German made carbon steel slide Sig or the newer stainless steel ones? I thought Sig still do Nitron refinish (not "in house" but can be done through Sig).

Any way, Todd in CC (www.customizedcreationz.com) will be the guy I call if I ever gonna refinish my Sigs.

CCR will be my 2nd choice because they left the clip "spots" on the frame. But their refinish job still top notch.

Haha, I remember you got kind of unfairly blasted on the Sigforum by a few other members for pointing out the clip "spots" from CCR. They can get a little overprotective of their forum heroes. Can't even let a guy have his own opinion.

I waited 40 minutes to get through, just to hear, "sorry we don't refinish our

handguns in house"! Is it me or has SIG taken a dive in the gun industry?

I don't know about refinishing---I had CCR refinish my slide and will be sending it back for the frame at some point---but my wait was only a couple of minutes when I called Sig's Custoemr Service. Setting up my service order was quick and painless, and within 15 minutes, I had an email with all I needed to go send my pistol off.

Mind you, all I had done was the routine maintenance (i.e., swap out old springs and make sure everything's working right) and installation of night sights. Still, smooth enough experience and I had my pistol back in just over two weeks, so no complaints here.

It can be hit or miss...........with SIG.. The main problem with SIG at least for me is just getting to "TALK" to someone. Their wait times are crazy. What they have at most 3 people answering the phones? I'm guessing because it's always the same 2 people if I decide to wait. So far they are 4 and 0 in calling back on the messages they ask you to leave during peak hours.

I left 4 messages regarding the SIG P250.... Never got one call back on that pistol question. Since they rushed it to market without support or exchange kits or CA mags originally it was and remains a pretty FUBAR Joke of a roll out of a product. One of the worst in history!

The problem with getting your SIG refinished by someone else other than Sig, is that it voids the factory warranty... Stupid, but that's what they told me when I asked them.

i don't pay much attention, i don't pay much mind to warranties, i just go with reputable services/craftsmen

I've only contacted Sig through email and have been pleasantly surprised by the quickness of the replies.

So much so that the top SIG armorer in the nation was telling people to stay away from a certain SIG gun. SIG is a horrendous corporation.

I had to send a Sig back in, it was a terrible experience for an unfinished Sig right out of the box. 10-14 business days ended up being 3 months. In fact, instead of calling me to give me status, he would tell me to call him the next day to motivate him to go check status. That's rediculous on a brand new Sig that should have easily failed Quality Assurance at the factory. I like Sigs, but I will only buy them used from now, that whole experience really soured me on their customer service ability. I have multiple Sigs and the design is great, the QA and CS is not nearly as good as it should be for a top tier company.

that was Bruce warning people about the Sig 238. it isn't a Sig design, it has gone through several rebirths as an Excam-FIE-Colt-Sig and was never a successful design before. many of the quality issues Sig is currently going through has to do with installation of the former CEO of Kimber.

members don't think of Sig as a joke, they are just concerned that it is going the way of Kimber in the quality of their offerings

you must be referring to the 220 Compact with the internal extractor. he wasn't warning folks to avoid the gun, as he did with the 238, he was saying that they had seen more feeding problems with it than the full sized 220s due the the increased speed of the slide.

it is much like he warns folks away from
1. any 1911 with a barrel/slide shorter than 4.25"
2. older Browning Hi-Powers, before they strengthen the slide for the .40
3. CZ 75 evolutions in calibres other than 9mm

I remember he specifically said to stay away from any new 220 at the time and that it was best to stick with the folded slide version. Did he ever design a fix for the 220 slide?
