That'd be an interesting project. I've built up a few 1911s from frames (one 100%, one 80%) but not a 2011. I have a feeling it'd become a more expensive project to get to how I want it, than I can afford.

Did they say what the 20% is that the enduser must complete? Is it just drilling holes, or something much more intense?

Cutting the rails, drilling the hole for the extractor pin, and then fitting all the parts.

It's not terribly hard, just labor intensive and needs a good deal of attention.

Thanks! Sounds like a doable and good project.

by doing a 80% receiver you would get around the roster. I would so be in for one. I want a full length railed dust guarded 1911 so bad. the only one I could get in CA is the BAR-STO model and while its almost exactly what I want its about $2800

I've got the same thing in .45 Its getting hard chromed right now. 80% seems to be my ticket to another one in .40 without the nearly 3k price tag.

One with a tactical rail would be cool. Just an idea.

I'd take 2 as long as they had long dustcovers.
                        where are my pistol mags?
