80% 2011 Frames

Hi Everyone,

If anybody here is like me and would like a 2011 but find it impossible (or $$$) to find, KTOrdinance has emailed me saying they could make an 80% 2011 frame if I could preorder 150. The cost would be about $250. Now I am absolutely NOT taking preorders or money of any sort, but rather am just judging interest.

Interested, but it'll be a long way until you get 150 people. Weren't there 80% Para frames floating around a couple of years back, or am I smoking something too good to be true?

a STI brand double-stack 1911

It is a double-stack 1911 frame. Little improvements over 1911s such as an integral plunger tube and integral support for an ambi safety. Not my cup of tea but there are others that like it.

I would NOT want to be in the OPs shoes and try to get 150 by posting on a bunch of different boards. Also with the number of 150... is a lot and I can bet you that you will have a TON of headaches. Trust me, I have ran a couple of GBs.

Sounds like more work than its worth for one guy to organize. But I'd take one...
Any CNC guys on here looking for work locally that think they could make a smaller batch at a reasonable price? If your in the SF area I'll gladly come help with set up and babysitting the machine if we could make this happen.

There isn't much you can probably do to help with the setup of the machine for the CNC. It is a lot of inputting the info in the program and making the adjustment and working the numbers correctly to make it happen. All of this is done by the CNC guy so yeah.... it's basically a one man thing. Plus shop time is usually $$$$...

Depends on the shop. The shop I used to work in had one guy who did all the programing and initial setup. The bulk of the time when the machines were running one of the rest of us would be keeping an eye on them, feeding them, swapping out tooling etc. If there's someone here with the know how to write the program and a mill that is just sitting all they need is someone to keep it running. Hey I can dream can't I?
