          Defense? .45apc.
          Offense? maybe the .22lr.
Then another horse PONY came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make men slay each other. To him was given a huge sword. My kinda guy.

When we special operations forces space shuttle door gunners take personal leave, we don't trust our personal safety to anything but .22 CAL LR exploding devastator rounds. They'll blow a hole in a man the size of a football, scout's honor.

The important things are always simple; the simple things are always hard.

Well put it in your perspective... if you were a baddie, what would you RATHER get shot with... a .22 or .45...
It is said that it takes 3 shots of 9mm in the same spot to equal the damage done by a .45... Just a thought...

Both works fine against elephants at 1k yards. The difference is with the 45 Auto, bring a book to read.
The bullets with my name on it I'm not worried about, it's the "To whom it may concern" ones I'm worried about.

Get an AK/ variant and call it a day. Slide that handle back and it sounds wicked.

the 22 vs 45 debates bring up a lot of scenarios. in my town a bad guy shot an officer one time in the upper chest close range just missing his armor with a .25 auto a Raven or Davis very cheap gun. the officer passed away at the scene. very sad.

                              Its all in shot placement.
A .45 has a larger chance to inflict damage with a fatality afterward, but at a certain point (unknown to us) the amount of .22lr projectiles hitting the same target will produce the same effect.

So if I had a choice of being shot with either; one .45 to the chest, or thirty .22lr to the chest, I would go with the .45.

That being said, I would probably die either way.

here's the fail in the "spray .22lr at threat arguement"...who says you are going to get the time before the threat injects you with lead.

IMHO the .45 would be best but both are lethal. What is most important is shot placement. IIRC, the campus shooting at CSUF several years back, the suspect was armed with a .22lr and 5 of the 7 victims shot died. Edit. Just checked and 7 of the 9 died.
