It terrifies me that you own a handgun, if you are actually terrified to be without one for a few days. Buy a baseball bat and knife today. Go DROS a shotgun while you are at it.

Sorry if that offended somebody, but this may just be something to think about: at which point am I no longer cautious/protective but rather paranoid about something?
That's a bit like saying "Wow, you have a fire extinguisher? Man, you must be paranoid, who's ever had their house burn down here?"

        OP- What are you thinking?

Me- I have one primary weapon and a back up as needed. Right now its the Sig P226 and P228 (collection piece mainly) as back up in the safe.

I also have the Glock 17 and G19 in the safe. And the 870 on standby if needed.
And the SIG P228 airsoft is even in the safe.

ALWAYS HAVE A BACK UP. I always recommend the same brand and caliber so the magazines can be interchangeable. IE- The Sigs and Glocks above.

Oh yeah- The mid-sized pistols I use are mainly for back up and travel. They are ideal for vehicle travel.

At the very least- Pepper spray and a good flashlight.

Let me ask you guys this. Do you have one weapon or even two in your house and where do you guys have them? What got me thinking is when I spoke to another CGner that he carries around his house on his hip. He basically said if you have one under your pillow and you're downstairs, what good does it do?

I have my HD shotgun by my bed along with a Glock and I have pepper spray bottles all over in drawers that can be accessible if someone breaks in and you can't reach your primary. I got kids at home and I'm really not going to leave a bunch of loaded weapons all over the house. Plus I have a home alarm and two dogs so I know anytime anyone even starts walking down my driveway. Just a question.

And to the OP, whatcha gonna do when you can't reach your weapon, learn to use your surroundings and yourself as a weapon. Being paranoid/safe is a state of mind. Good luck.

There should be a 3 gun minimum for Calgunners, lol! Suddenly having 8 firearms doesn't seem as crazy as other people want to convince me too believe! I do need more ammo and mags though!

A machete, a 2x4 stud, or a baseball bat, etc. will work...
Even a slingshot, a BB gun, etc. for even longer range will help a lil bit
Calgunners should not go down without putting up a fight, even with bare hands... lol

On a 2nd thought, how about getting a C&R rifle and have it handy on the same day?

M-44 with 7.62x54R heavy ball ought to do the trick!

eh, I don't really find it to be too big of a deal. I have one pistol, and my Mosin which needs a little work, and which I've never fired. I've come back from trips before and simply left my pistol locked up for a couple weeks, before I felt the need to put it back in the desk next to my bed.

Yeah, per my post above, I keep one on my person while I'm lounging around the house. Easiest way to gain access to a self defense item should something happen at home.
