    First Night Alone

I realize most of you won't be in this situation but I'm spending my first night 'alone.' I spent my first 28 years without a defensive weapon but purchased a handgun earlier this year. Today I shipped my slide/barrel out to Apex for a sight/FPB install which will leave me without a functioning firearm for about a week. I've slept with my M&P40 on my nightstand for nearly two months now, and suddenly the thought of sleeping 'naked' terrifies me.

How does everyone else feel about the potential of being unarmed?

I had to do this same thing this whole month. At first it bothered me but I got over it after this first week. I still don't have a working firearm in my house, but I do have a baseball bat. Gives me a little more comfort.

Thank god for five years of baseball!
    Anyone wanna go shooting?

The same thing happened to me last month, for 10 days. I sold my only handgun (that I keep at home) and DROS'd a new one, and the only thing I had in my house was a bolt action .30-06 with no ammo and a half-built AR. It sucked! I was counting those 10 days and it took longer than ever haha. That will never happen to me again!

Cant say I have ever been in that situation.

Ever since I was 14 I have always had at least my coach gun around to fall back on, usualy more.

Seems like a good reasion to buy another gun to me.

Perfect reason to own multiple firearms

Hell I'd pickup a one of those cheap 500's they sell at Big 5. Either that or have a machete sitting by the bed

Man Up... San Diego isn't Compton. You will be fine.

Do you want me to come over? I can bring some guns, we can watch movies, eat popcorn and talk about boys!

hehe, get the most deadly weapon other than a gun in your house and let it play M&P for a few days.

Oh and get more than one gun!

This situation is giving me a perfect excuse to cave into my personal desire to buy a Sig P229. What I meant to emphasize in this thread is the difference in comfort one feels with a defensive weapon on their nightstand vs. having to go it alone (for whatever reason.)

I am uncomfortable being unarmed at home. I have a folding knife and a loaded handgun on my person right now as I am browsing Calguns. I have another item at the ready should I need to retreat for better firepower. Should my primary need to be sent in for service, a backup is ready to take its place. Should the backup need to go in for service too, a backup for the backup is ready to step forward. Should the backup for the backup's backup need to go in for service, there is something else waiting to be called forth. Should the....
