Both of my Glocks (17 and 19) do it ONLY if I really slam the magazine in hard. I dont like it, but then again, I dont slam the mags hard so not a major issue.

I am back to SIG as a primary weapon so not worries.

Lightened recoil spring, for starters. I'm guessing in the neighborhood of 11# or so. Combine that with the added weight of a long slide and a tungsten guide rod, and you're well on your way.

I agree with the poster that stated "it's neither by design nor a defect" even though mine did it once, on close inspection the groove is more than enough to hold it in place, and if you pop the mag in in firmly it actuals pushes in the direction to further secure it.
The only catch being I'm in my house so there were no rounds in the mag as there were at the range.

my G19 did that when it was new but once it broke in, it ran as usual. Whatever this guy was telling you is BS. I can't say some glocks won't do it but it's not an intended operating feature that you would ever want to count on when you "really" need to reload.

From what I have seen, if you slap the magazine in with the force traveling perpendicular to the slide (90 degrees), it rarely does it. But, if you slap in the magazine with the force traveling at an angle in relation so the slide (say, 45 degrees) then the chances of this happening are greater.

A hard slap always does it on all of my Glocks. It's like a little gift from Gaston himself every single time.

Just don't get use to it happening though. Because if it doesn't you will lose seconds staring at your gun looking for the slide release when it counts. Practice ... when the mag bottoms out in the well the thumb falls with the momentum on the slide releases every time. Practice it.

I dont know I wondered how this guy loaded a round after dry firing his glock 40.

If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

Never experienced this with my glocks.

Any well worn (2K + rounds) Glock will do this if the loaded mag is slammed home.

As another poster stated trigger discipline!

                            Something I was told-

A stock Glock will not do this. A Glock modified with an aftermarket extend slide release (both of mine) may do this.

Both of mine will do this with a really good slam. I dont like it, but then again I dont slam my mags so I guess I am ok.

Both my 19's do it when I slam the mags in. I consider them bonus Glocks!
