What he said, plus, one to shoot and one to keep. When I bought dupes, they weren't necessarily your everyday piece. A couple are unique and some are addictions.

Hmmm, I'm still eyeballing your collection Ivanimal.
I'm not having a glass of wine, I'm having SIX. It's called a tasting and it's classy.

      Collecting

I own multiple copies of several guns because of collecting activities. I always try to specialize when I am collecting, so I might have several of the same thing. Here are a couple of examples:

Glocks and black rifles only for me...why? Because I can get new Glocks for $398.20 and my guns never failed me.

I have a matched pair of SigP226s: One for the left side holster and one for the right so as not to be out of balance when I walk.

Actually it was simply the result of finding the second one at a price that was too good to pass up.

I don't have multiple weapons but I may in the future. My reasoning is that it will be used mostly by my girlfriend & I'll already have a ton of spare parts & accessories for it e.g. holsters, magazines, etc.

I have two of everything. In case of divorce and she takes half of everything.

I have a hard time passing up a good deal...just cause I already have it doesn't mean I won't pick up another if the price is right! (this ends with me having WAY too many ruger semi-autos)

Some people are not really interested in collecting a wide range of different guns and limit themselves to what they actually use. Train with one type, and have back ups. Familiarity, commonality, and what not.

I bet a lot of people own a Glock, or two, and either a few ARs or AKs.

Do 1911's even count? Sure they're all 1911's but they are almost all different.
BillCA's Smith's might be the exception. His are identical. I have lots of 1911's, but no two are exactly alike. Again, they're all 1911's, but none are the same.

Let's see what I can think of ...

2 west German 226's in 9mm, because they are great
                        3 glock 17s
4 CZ 75's (only 2 of them are exactly the same though, the SP-01s)
                        2 686s
5 1911s (only 2 are exactly the same)
                        2 HK P2000 V3

I have 2 P6's, bought the first one and liked it then got the other for less and in better condition.

Thieves are the lowest form of life out there, except for liberal politicians, of course, but that's redundant.
