Plus 1 for Titan Gun Vault

I have owned one of these for 15 years (was a different brand years ago).

    IMHO Best Box out there!

The biggest thing I'm leery about most of the mentioned safes is that they're made out of 14 gauge steel. My "FAS1 Quick Access Pistol Safe" is 3/16" steel plate.

          V-line for me, too

V-line wall safes, and boxes for non-electronic access to avoid that low battery condition or EMP blast before the zombies attack.

I have the biometric Gun Vault and am not impressed with it. Finger has to be just right, and still takes a few seconds to open. Also, if you get a miss-read, you have to let it reset for a few seconds. Not very good for intense situations.

Also, the electronc locking mechanism stopped working recently. Motor still makes the unlocking sound, but doesn't open. It at least has an over ride key. When I replace it, it will be with a purely mehancal model.

I'm happy with my V-line top draw which has a mechanical push button lock.

To the OP and everyone else interested...

I just got my Gunvault Nanovault NV100, which I think to be essentially the same as the Secure-it pistol safe, and it's perfect for what it was designed for! I read about how the Secure-it safe has this 'smell' from the foam, and I get what they mean. But it's not so bad, really. Other than that, it fits my P2000SK perfectly and just enough for one mag. For your 1911, I'd say grab the larger size just in case (the NV200?). It has a very small footprint, and like what the Gunvault advertises, it fits in a (my) briefcase and no need to lug around the factory box anymore.
