I've posted this on numerous forums, but look at the "FAS1 Quick Access Pistol Safe". I've had mine about 7 months now, and can tell you there isn't a sturdier quick open safe for the money!

Here's a couple of pics with my G19. It's a very sturdy little safe with a simplex type lock. It has a gas piston that pops the door open for fast access with a nylon holster. I don't know what pistols fit the holster, but my G 19 & 17 fit just fine.

Buy the way, It's also very easy to operate, even in the dark! My wife can easily open it. I haven't done it yet, but I eventually plan to mount it on the side of the bed.

When I bought mine the guy was offering 25% off if you ordered a safe with a posted coupon code. I don't know if the code is still good, but here it is :

    Coupon Code: MM0908ILJO

The secure-it combination lock box is junk only because the combination lock is so finicky. mine is 1.5 months old, and after i turn it to the correct combo, it no longer opens for me unless i use a pair of pliers to turn the knob. other reviewers online have had similarly bad experiences. the keyed box doesn't have this problem.

Sweet. I saw a very similar design as this a few years ago, and when I went looking for it I could not find it. Thanks for posting.

I've got the secure-it combo lock box and I'd rate it just OK. I bought mine about a year ago. After the first few months of owning it, the locking bar would some times would not latch. So you had to monkey around with it to turn the knob.
I should have gotten a GunVault...

I have a biometric pistol safe, it is pretty reliable recognizing fingerprints but the unlocking mechanism is too slow for my liking. From the time you slide your finger across to the time it opens is a good 4-5 seconds. I'd rather buy a number combo or gun safe that opens as soon as the correct sequence is pushed.

This is the second safe of this type I have. The first one is a R & D I bought quite a few years ago. When I looked to buy a second one, I found out they didn't make them anymore. That's when I ran across these. I actually like the "FAS1 " better as it has a piston to automatically open the door when you unlock it!

Yes Sir it does have a key but that not what I bought it for! And yes my finger is regitered 30 times and still have issues, maybe mine is a POS but am leary of investing anymore money in them.

I have a keylock Secure-It box sitting in my EDC backpack at my feet right now. It's light enough to carry on a regular basis, and if needed I can secure it in the trunk (the cable is already mounted in the trunk, ready to secure the box)

BUT......it doesn't allow for quick entry, nor do I expect it to be an extremely burglar-resistant lockbox. The light weight and slim profile is the trade-off. Works for me, but it's not for everyone.

                            "Of course not!"
                            "You're not changing anything."

Gunvault has something similar to the secure it safe. It's called the Nanovault. Just came out a few months ago. The cheapest one I found is on eBay. I'll let you know how it is once it arrives.
