    Pistol Lock Box

Has anyone used the "Secure-It" combonation lock box? How about the biometric ones? I'm looking for as small and lite as possible 1911 or smaller size.

I use a gunvault and love it. I wish I got the deluxe with the light but it is fine.

I use a Stack-On drawer safe. I simply put my handgun on the nightstand before I go to bed and put it back into the safe when I leave my house.

No need to wish you got the Deluxe. I got the Deluxe thinking that I wanted the light as well, but the light is a joke. It's a single, tiny, feeble dim yellow bulb buried in the foam that turns off after 5 seconds. And it only illuminates a 1/2" circle, so you can't really see anything other than what is directly underneath it.

I don't use any of the other features of the deluxe (motion alarm, etc.), so I now realize the standard would have been just as good. You made the right choice.

I do really like the Gunvault design though.

I have the V-line pistol safe. Has a nice 5 button combo that can be programed in any order. It also is completly mechanical. No relying on electronics for the door to open. I thought about the bio-metrics but this safe you can open quickly and with your eyes closed. Also feels very secure and well made.

Depends on where you need to mount it. I use these in several areas around the house; they work great under desks or inside cabinets/night stands:

I am not very impressed with biometric locks. Had one on a full size gun safe it lasted about 1 week before it died, guess what you can't get into the safe untill the lock smith drills it out. Not being very smart I bought a hidden wall safe that's biometric thinking it would be fast to get into...wrong. Unless your finger is in the exact position on the lens that you programed it wont open, takes several attempts to open most times....would suck in a emergency. Get something with push buttons or a dial combo lock.

I bought the same one and bolted it inside of a nightstand drawer. I am very impressed so far. However, the interior space is deceiving. It barely fits my 2 3/4" revolver. My .380 Bersa fits easily. Unfortunately, no go on my 1911 or my 4" .357.
                  Good luck.

Hands down, GunVault makes the best lockboxes. I've used almost all their models over the years & (to this day) wouldn't be without a couple. This one for your pad:http://www.gunvault.com/multi-vault-biometric.html
And this one for your vehicle:

It fits just fine my Glock 22 with 17rd extended mag in place plus 3 additional 17rd mags. Put the grip facing up with the top of the slide flat on the bottom.

+1 on the microgunvault.... i bought the biometric one... one thing though... you have to take your time and scan your finger slowly or it won't open. Didn't think about that when I ordered it, but I make sure I practice opening it in case I need to open it under duress.

The GunVault stuff seems to be the way to go, I'm looking into one as well.

+1 as well from me on Gunvault.

Inside bolted to immovable furniture (like the pier unit in our bedroom) or wall studs, it's not going anyplace. A dedicated burglar could probably pry it open given a bit of time, but presumably they aren't going to want to stick around too long.

have you tried registering the same finger multiple times?
