Your Sigma experience

While working in the firearms retail industry about ten years ago I had the opportunity to get lots of feedback on guns from those who had purchased them. Those who bought Sigmas either loved them and never had issues or they despised them and couldn't get them to run right. I have no evidence of it but I allways suspected a quality control problem at Smith. It's my understanding that when Sigmas first came out they were such an exact Glock clone that you could switch slides and frames on them until Glock sued and won. After the mandatory changes were made to negate this the gun was never the same. I've never confirmed that but that was the talk back then. I'm a huge fan of S&W but I would not own a Sigma. On the other hand for a hundred bucks...why not?

I love my Sigma .40VE. As mentioned above, a little polishing on the sear and the connecting pieces and the trigger gets much better. You won't be able to buy lots of accessories for it but it will go bang with any kind of ammo you throw at it.

The key to the Sigma is remembering what it was designed for. It's not a target gun. In my opinion it's a little bulky to be a carry gun, but I would trust my life to mine. I had a jamming issue a while back, turned out it was the magazine spring. Once that was resolved it was smooth sailing!

I've have shot my brother's SW9F. It's an ok gun, I don't mind the heavy trigger as long as I hit the target. All my shots where in the black at 25 yards. It ejects the brass up & back, one landed between my nose & glasses & left a burn mark. I remembered enduring the pain, while I put the gun down & remove the brass.

i think when i have some money to burn im going to get one of those disaster ready kits that come with the sigma allied forces model. throw it in the closet until the day we have to b-line it for the shelter i have never had any problems with my s&w guns. so im confident the sigma will be a decent gun at the least. and i have a 100 year old 38 revolver from s&w that still fires flawless every time you pull the trigger.

My 40VE was relaible It gave me no problem other than shooting way way left. Id trust it to go bang everytime. I did a trigger job on it and probably could have corrected the way it shot but it just wasnt worth it. I traded it for car parts.

Okay thats a relief to know that I am not the only one who has that experience. Not only does mine shoot left it also shoots low. With no adjustment possible in the stock irons, the only way to compensate is to place the center dot over the right side rear dot to get close to where I want it to shoot at.

I'm thinking about getting the Crimson Trace Laser Guard. At least with that I can adjust elevation and windage. Anyone has one on their Sigma to comment?

BTW, I eliminated two springs from the gun and it shoots quite well with ease. The two springs took out a lot of the spring tension in the trigger pull. It still isn't perfect but much much better than before at least.

Never owned one, but hate them with the worst f-ing passion. Oh God, I hate S&W to begin with and the Sigma makes it more worst.

I have two of them; both pre-lawsuit guns; one in 9mm, one in .40.

They both work exceptionally well for me - no Glock Ka-Boom - you can shoot lead ammo in them - and the triggers have never bothered me, although I put so many rounds downrange that the triggers are actually pretty sweet.

I hear what others say about them; maybe the First Gens were something extra special, but I have never had a complaint with either of mine. One started getting a bitt rattly after xx,000 rounds - using the Smith lifetime warranty, I sent it back, and it came back substantially new.

No complaints here, at all.

2009 SW40VE
Works perfect.
Trigger was gritty but easily smoothed out in minutes at home.
Very simple design inside.
The rear sight is drift adjustable for windage.

I have one in .40 and it works perfect. Sure, the trigger is heavy, but it doesnt bother me. I have put a few thousand rounds thru it with no issues.
I have noticed that some people hate hate hate them, but mine works fine.

Not sure if it is early or later model.

A Sigma 9mm was my first pistol almost 10 years ago when I was in the Army. It was a neat little gun. Never had a problem with it, balance was nice, light, attractive two tone. And when the time was right, I had no problem selling it to someone who thought it was just as nice as I did.

My SW40VE has been perfect since day one. The trigger is heavier BY DESIGN. For me it is easy to shoot well and a very safe defense weapon. Simply point and pull, works every time.

Your Sigma experience

Can't stand the trigger, I can work around bad triggers, I actually enjoy the craptastic SKS trigger, but not the sigma. Horrible.
