The CZ 75B SA in 9mm as well the 75B in .40 also have ambi safeties, but not ambi slide releases making them more lefty friendly. You can also switch the mag release on the SA to the other side if you like. I'm not sure about the .40.

I'm a big fan of the P-01 and ya it's my favorite pistol. My previous favorite was the Glock 19 and after many range sessions with both I definitely prefer the CZ. I continue to shoot both but tend to start with the CZ and finish with the CZ.

If I didn't know about the P-01 I'd probably be just as satisfied with the G19 and choosing one over the other is really a matter of splitting hairs. I trust both equally but if someone asks which one, I know the answer!

I think it will be unfair to judge CZ 75 with modern guns. As the name suggested, it was first introduced in 1975 as one of the original wondernine. Even Eugene Stoner commented that he was very shocked to learn a communist country was able to make such a good firearm.

As for the so called "problems" with the gun, the later clones and CZ factory have been slowly improving them. Take the P06 (not on roster) for example. Low profile slide = hard to rack, slide is enlarged to correct that. Trigger mechanism has been simplified and improved. Ambidextrous features. Safety and decocker location improved and able to swap them out easily. Polymer frame ( I really dont see it as an improvement but simply a preference.)

In my opinion, the 75 is one of the best gun design in the world and still going strong after 35+ years.

You are crazy. The Cz is one of the best, if not the best, handguns there is. It is built like a tank and is sold at a fair price. The only other guns that can compare are the browning high power or a 1911 style pistol.

If you get a cz, get the Sp-01 model. It kicks @ss, and it even has a bayonet you can get for it.

jeff cooper said that if you have to use a pistol other than a 1911 it should be a cz75. ask anyone who has had a cz for more than 10 years. i know a dude who carried his cz75 every single day with NO exceptions since 1997. and according to him it still shoots as good as the day he bought it. the cz is the best 9 you can buy. and i think the small slide is cool. its really not that hard to grab unless you have huge andre the giant sausage fingers. the p01 is awesome for CC purposes and the sp01 is awesome for everything. it even has a full length frame so you dot have to turn it around and use the handle to beat someone down.

really the only thing can relate shooting a CZ to is driving a Saab... its shockingly precise. it feels good. and it makes me happy. even one time at the gun store i asked this dude about CZs and he said "the CZ75 is the best kept secret in the shooting world" and i have to agree. CZs are awesome.

You gotta shoot that thing. Then the slide will rack easily just fine. Break it in.

If easy of racking the slide on a NIB gun is an important criteria, no one will ever buy a Baer.

I'm always perplexed by the popularity of the CZ's on the internet forums.

It always sounds like the CZ's are the best thing since sliced bread, and everyone and their grandma has one.

But yet at least where I am, you can't walk into a shop and purchase anything like mags for them.

Online shopping places also seem very limited for things like holsters.

I have a big knack for picking pistols that are not popular, and I walked away from the CZ last year because my perception was I was going to be getting another pistol that I'd have to pull teeth to find accessories and parts for.

The P-01 looks to be about everything I would want in a pistol, but I just can't help but wonder if I'd be better off ponying up the extra cash for something that appears more popular like a Sig P229.

I did just that. I walked into a shop a month ago and purchased some more mags. The good thing about the mags is that the same mag will fit the 75 series/SP-01/85.

So it must be an issue with where you are.

czcustom.com sells whatever parts you need.

If you don't like it, don't buy it. But don't knock it without trying it.

CZ's aftermarket accessories tend to be somewhat limited. There is a reason why it is commonly referred as some sort of lesser known gem.

Yeah, the aftermarket accessories are harder to find. But are they even necessary? When you have something that works very well, why change anything?

As for mags, they are available at very reasonable prices. CZ customshop also provide a whole range of parts. So parts are certainly available.

I believe that the parts are harder to come by is because many countres cloned the 75 and there doesn't seem to be any standardization on the parts. Many tried to improved on the original designs and end up with a slightly modified weapon. Before 1994, CZ were considered as warsaw pact nation and imports were restricted. Most of us can only get 75 clones through Italian made Tanfoglio, EAA Witness, Swiss Sphinx, US Springfield P9, or Israel Baby Eagle. It is not until about 1996~7 ish that the 75B came to the US. With all these close cousins that cloud the market, no wonder they never standardized the interchangeability on parts.
