we went down to the range yesterday and have narrowed it down a bit to a Glock 17 or 19.

With the 19 my pinky finger cant' fit on the grip but the wife and her sister really felt like it was better for them, will probably go that route as it's more important to keep the mrs interested than anything at this point.

any of you think thats an issue? I cant be the only one that it doesnt fit his hand perfectly for a G19?

The G19 does have a smaller frame, so it's just the nature of the beast.

I have very large hands and the G19 fits nicely in my hands. To me the gun is very balanced and fits well. I've done some tactical shoots with my G19 and love it.

Glock 17 and buy an Advantage Arms Conversion Kit 22LR for cheap ammo practice.

The 17 is an excellent choice for a 9mm semi!

My G23 (same compact size as G19) fits almost perfectly in my hand but sometimes I do wish it were just a tad bit bigger so I could get just a tiny bit more "room" in between my fingers on the grip. You're not the only one.
