The problem is that you're pricing it based on the pistol's value plus the Novak modifications.

Once upon a time, HP's were the only game in town if you wanted a high quality, high capacity 9mm.

Those days are long gone.

A serious user has many choices in 9mm today in every envelope from longslide to sub-compact.

In having your pistol worked over by Novak, it increased the value to you but lowered the value to a BHP collector.

The rule of thumb wrt custom work is that if you sell the pistol at some point, unless the work was performed by an acknowledged master, and you're selling to someone that's interested in the work of that particular 'smith, you never get your money back on the work performed, or the parts added.

Had you had Novak do the full package on your HP, including his logo on the slide, you may have been able to get an amount over what your asking now, but the bottom line is that you're overpriced the pistol for todays market.

I wouldn't pay 1k for 9m anywhere. I'd be looking at a nice single stack .45 for that dollar amount.

Overpriced for today's market. Even in CA they are available. I see them in gun stores in original condition for a lot less than you are asking.

It is a great gun to be sure, however there are also lots of other great guns, brand new for the same price you are asking for it. Sigs, 1911's, certain S&W, HK's, some very stiff competition at that price point.

Right now things seem like a buyer's market, so it may take you awhile to find that HP lover that will take it. Keep trying tho!

remember; a $1400 set of Dubs doesn't increase your car's value by $1400 (often times, the new buyer will be even more motivated if the wheels were left stock)

I think with HPs you either love them or hate them. My my father-in-law has one and loves it, I can't stand it, hate the ergonomics, the controls, everything. Then for the price you can get a new Glock or XD for half the price. Just wait some HP lover will come around and if your willing to negotiate you'll sell it.

In my opinion not many people are fond of Hi-Powers. The younger generation especially are more into the cheaper priced polymer pistols.

As of right now, I agree, it's a buyers market. Not only that, many (myself included) aren't as willing to drop $1K+ on a gun due to the tough times. You don't see 5 minute "I'll take it" posts like you used to. Great deals sit in the classifieds for quite a while.

(By great deals, I do mean great deals. Not those posters who say "Great Deal!" on a gun priced at MSRP )

I love HP's and I like Bar-sto barrels too; however I felt the price was a few hundred too high for me in this economic climate.

I would of preferred if it had remained blued and had an extended thumb safety. The FN competition sight is an oddball sight; its functional but not overly attractive.. for all the work they did to install it I'm surprised they didnt bury a Bomar on it.

The other problem for me is I"m way up North and you're way down South and I don't believe it's on the Roster. If you're negotiable on the price and travelling north anytime soon let me know
