I still have my Jennings .380. It was the first handgun I bought at a whopping 78.00 BNIB from a long since closed "slims" gun shop in Riverside.

I used to carry it in the desert on camping trips until I pulled it to use on a rattle snake (which happened in about 3 feet from my exposed sleeping bag) and it failed due to a couple of grains of sand that were apparently in my pocket. I used a big *** rock to eliminate the snake and the Jennings went into the safe and has sat there since. That thing used to jam like every other magazine at the range, but after it let me down when I needed it, it became memorabilia.

had a gun fail while shooting once, i fired it once and the hammer just followed the slide until the mag was empty. fortunately it was pointed where it should have been and I just kept it there. was rather exciting though...
I can imagine if a person freaked in the middle of that and didn't keep the muzzel down range bad things could happen.

I had that happen with one of my SKS's. They all now have the firing pin spring kit.

I bet it failed the drop test after one of them dropped it after firing a round.

Add excitement to your range time, Buy a Jennings! Its the closeist thing to a hand grenade you can get. Never know when its going to go off.

It is really sad that Ravens get dumped in there with the rest of those junk guns. They really are decent little pop guns. The others may suck. But I have had my Raven .25 for a long, long time, and it has been a reliable little bugger the whole time. Not anywhere near a jetfire, mind you. But if I could only afford a Raven, I wouldn't turn my nose up at it. I would probably buy a Jennings to. They would be ideal for dealling with muggers. Just load it up and hand it to them. Let them blow their fingers off...

Raven's and Jenning's share a common heritage; the patent was owned by the father, and when he passed away the siblings each were allowed to use it; one built Raven's in .25acp and the other built Jenning's in .22lr. The .25acp is a superior cartridge from a feeding and reliability standpoint hence the better results obtained from the Raven. At least thats the story I'm told by my old firearms dealer friend who knew the family.

LOL.... Don't be surprised if the guys on either side of you pack up and move when you go to the range and pull out those high end guns. They are not only worried about getting shot, but also getting splattered with you blood or shrapnel when the guns blows up in your hand and face.

Rule of thumb. Any gun that you can still by new for around $100.00 is a good gun to avoid. It was not too long ago these things sold for around $50.00 (or less) when new.

These guns alone have done more to damaging our ability to own handguns since every bone head could afford one (or two or three) and I seem to recall reading they have ended up in more gun related shootings than any other hand gun. That's why they are called "Junk Guns".

You get what you pay for, and in this case you may get more than you bargained for.

Just found out my dad has a Jennings 22. Sounds more like this case was operator error than anything else. And except in a few rare cases there are no accidental discharges. As to the case that bankrupted Jennings I have to agree with someone else why in the heck was the kid not supervised with said gun.
