I live over the hill inSanity Cruz, a few blocks from the bay and fog and don't have rust problems.
I lightly lube and wipe down everything in my safe once a year or individually as needed after a shooting session.
Even the corrosive commie ammo hasn't caused bore problems here after just a basic disassembly and cleaning.
I did have a Winchester 1400 shotgun that was the exception and I constantly battled the beginnings of surface rust. It is happy in
Phoenix, Arizona now.
I guess some blued steels are more resistant than others.
I do use good car wax on my nice, older blued Smith revolvers.
