Wow. From the way you guys landed on him for asking a question you'd think Nancy Pelosi and Babs Boxer were posting on here in secret! Do ANY of you guys that bashed him actually agree with the law in question or are we just covering our internet backsides in case DOJ is monitoring?

Whether we agree with a law or not does not make it optional... It is the law, no matter how stupid and rarely enforced.

And FYI, there is no question that DOJ, and other Agencies do cruse this website...

Of coarse they do. However answering his question politely or ignoring it altogether was in violation of no laws nor was asking it. Once again. Are we just kissing up to the DOJ ghost in this machine? Currying favor with the internet Police? Seems like it to me.

Well, personally I was just agreeing with Bill, who posted before me. If he wants to address your comments I'm sure he will...

Without regard to the OP's question, CGN is/has become a site that has been instrumental in pionerring the OLL movement as well as legal challenges to CA's ridiculously unconstitutional laws/bans. And now that it has become a political force as well, it should become and/or remain free of any and all information that can be construed as illegal or "bending the rules." To have the "enemy" obtain even the most infinitesimal piece of derogatory information from CGN will hurt its credibility.

Agreed Rob, however I still don't see any violation of any law. The question was merely posed. I don't see where any violation of any rules occured either. For all we know it's a hypothetical question or at worst, one asked from ignorance. We have no clue as to the intention of the asker, yet he was bashed as if he were trying to get someone to sell him an RPG. Maybe a little education was in order, but not the lambasting he took. A baseball bat was used where a twig would have sufficed.

Worst case scenario, for all of us.

Guy comes onto Calguns and joins up.

He proceeds to post questions regarding rebuild kits, OLL builds, AR & AK pistols, etc.

All of the poster's questions are in reference to the legality of the above, with just a little, almost imperceptable lean towards the wrong side of the question. Nothing stated flat out, but a reading between the lines might make the post questionable.

We turn on our TV's some night and we (CGN) then find ourselves referenced in a investgative report showing how easy it is to break the law wrt California AW laws. All brought to you by this radical extremist website called Calguns.

Nice sensational TV report with a table full of featured OLL's w/o BB's and a pile of post-2000 high-caps wouldn't do us any good, and if you don't believe this is a possibility you're not paying attention.

This is a hypothetical situation, but one we should avoid at all costs. If that means somebody gets their feathers ruffled, sorry, but the whole fight is at stake everytime something questionable goes down, here or elsewhere.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.

Again, I did not refer to the OP's question. But since you bring it up, yes, it does seem that the OP's question is "fishing." I thought the same thing as others did when I read it as would our "enemies" if they read it. It has the look of "deception" and sometimes thats all it takes.

Since we are on the subject here...
Say i have a 30rd Glock 45 mag made by promag or some aftermarket outfit before the ban.
can i replace the tube, follower, baseplate with newly manufactured glock parts and retain the original spring?

You sound like you have such a distrust of anyone that your are bathing yourself in doomsday senarios. You pepper your comments with wartime inuendos to bolster "the good fight."

You really should kick your feet up and relax a minute. It might do you a little good.

The OP's post kind of reminds me of a couple of years ago before I found calguns. I had a few "hi-cap" questions for the employees at Gunrunners. Basically, I wanted to know if the stuff I inherited years back was still legal to own or legal to sell. They just literally rolled their eyes and one walked away. The other spoke to me like an idoit for daring to take time out of his day for asking.

As much as they blew me off, I just laughed to myself, knowing on my passenger seat was a box full of the mags I've had for years...just saying.

                        WTB used AK MFER.

You may replace every part if you wish.

Thats pretty funny actually. And thanks I am plenty relaxed. I guess its not my website so I should not care. My thinking is that for CGN/CGF to be taken seriously, it should strive to be beyond reproach.

Oh, and I found some hi-cap magazines under a stack of Leif Garrett records in my garage. Can I use them in my OLL?

its ok. the FUD also effects people with post history too. People are so used to living behind the iron curtain in CA that they are scared. They don't remember that its innocent until proven guilty. And many have been pushing 2nd amendment rights so hard they forgot about the 1st amendment.

                                Is this a government-owned website?

Calgunners have good reason to be cautious with new posters who ask questions which sure do appear to be fishing, since we have LEAs actively monitoring this web forum.

You saw how quickly ACORN was hurt by the comments of some of its members, caught by some Joe Citizen - try thinking about how quickly our reputation as a place where law-abiding gun owners belong could be hurt by the off-comments of some members who respond poorly to a fishing question set out or monitored by a LEO.
