    S&W SD9 2.0

I wonder if they plan on listing this on the roster?

    Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

There is a market for cheap guns.
Only centerfires on the roster in the $350 and under range are the Bersa Firestorm, FMK, RIA M206, Taurus 856, and HiPoint.
If they added the SD9 and it was likewise priced I'm sure it would get a bulk of the sales from those people.

That?s why people are buying them in droves over Glock
Isn?t the SD just a Block knockoff?

S&W has better firearms compatible to Glock. I agree it?s a budget handgun.

My wife's favorite gun of ALL TIME is the SW SD9VE and she's always shot it better than anything else. Best thing about that gun was the fantastic $350 price we picked them up for.

CA shooters could benefit greatly from more options on the roster, including budget friendly and entry level type guns too. I'd love to see this available here.

Only people who drink the kool-aid flock to them.

People like to say they copied the Glock, but it's actually pretty different. While S&W did lose a patent infringement case, it's hard to tell what was really infringed on. Watch this video on it: https://youtu.be/tspWxwBPyVM?si=0OY7YenHRRUfyUqR

The SD VE series is a budget friendly gun with better ergos than a Block. And, now with the new 2.0 it will have a much better trigger than the 1.0. And, probably better than the Glock trigger. All at a better price too.

Will it ever be as popular as the Block? No, but they will still sell plenty of them to those who haven't drank the kool-aid. 😏

I remember I went to the LGS to buy the Glock-19, after hand on tried out several pistols I bought SD-9 VE (back then the SD9-VE still on the Roster). Everything is the same as G-19 but $100 cheaper.

In order for smith and Wesson to put a gun in the roster again they would have to think that it would sell really good. When that basic model was on the roster before it didn?t sell great. I know shops that still have them unsold sitting in the safes. There is not a huge market for them.

On the other hand the 2.0 is flying off the shelves. Having an issue with getting enough of them in to keep up with the orders. So smith and Wesson knows that anyone they make will sell and won?t be sitting in suppliers inventory for weeks or months.

In addition there is already a few guns within that price range that sell well that smith and Wesson would have to compete against. One being the Springfield xd. Springfield has excellent incentives for stores to sell their guns. Every Springfield that is sold the store gets a point and enough points gets you free guns from Springfield. That?s why the big chains push Springfield products to customers.

In my opinion to go to the trouble of putting something in the roster making thousands of that model to be available for sale gun companies are going want something that excites people and gets pre orders made. I don?t think the gun mentioned by the original poster would bring enough excitement. People aren?t going pre order them; there won?t be excited posts about them etc.

^^^ Proof that even the haters have problems getting Glock out of their minds.

I’m always chuckling at how someone complains about spending a mere $100-$150 bucks more for most reliable brand (Glock), yet they’ll spend twice as much for that iPad they’re using to read this thread.

That's a pretty ugly pistol but so is my G17. I like Smiths and it definitely serves a purpose in the market, not everyone can afford $500-$600 for a Toyota Camry-like G17. I'd rather have one of those than the Hi Point. My little brother
has the Smith 1.0 version and it's not my favorite pistol but it's reliable and goes bang when you squeeze the trigger.

If you have to choose between an SD and a Glock simply to save $100, then you have bigger problems to deal with than buying a gun. If you're that hard up for cash, can you even afford a single box of ammo? Are you going to practice with it?

For some guns, it doesn't matter how cheap they are, I'm not buying them because I'm comfortable shooting Glocks and I don't need a bunch of cheaper guns that I'll never shoot. I'd rather have another Glock than a bunch of cheaper guns.

Obviously the above doesn't apply if you prefer the SD because you shoot it better than a Glock. But at the same time, if you can shoot the SD well, you can also probably shoot a Glock well.

Don't choose a gun just because it is cheaper than another one. Choose based on what you shoot better. If that happens to be an SD or XD or whatever, then so be it.
